Chelsea Townhouse Channels Its Inner Diva with Bold Patterns and Textures
Where’s Beyoncé when you need her? If she is indeed looking for another place, she might want to look at this Chelsea pad for design ideas. DHD Interiors gave this Robert Young Architecture-designed townhouse its own alter ego with bold textures and colors in the family and kids’ spaces and soft, polished style in other areas like the master bedroom and dining room.
All it would take is a tour through this 4,000-square-foot home to realize the client is adventurous. The home grabs your attention right from the start with a sophisticated entrance punctuated by a striking floor-to-floor stair runner and bold red furniture. DHD had a lot of fun with texture in this home, creating an accent wall in the dining room with feathers and using a dynamic pattern and playful artwork in a more casual breakfast room.
The soft, neutral living room tones down the adventure, choosing instead to leave remnants of fun, like animal print pillows and a modern chandelier. In fact, attention-grabbing lighting fixtures are found throughout the home.
In the master bedroom, elements like a fluffy, furry bench and textured wallpaper and carpeting add a bit of Carrie Bradshaw flair.
DHD had a lot of fun with color in the children’s rooms, choosing a bold cowboy western wallpaper in one room and an enchanted forest on a pink backdrop in the nursery. One thing we’re sure of: That baby is going to learn her colors really quickly living in this home.
