Fashion Photographer Francesco Carrozzini Asks $16M for Historic Greenwich Village Townhouse
This Greenwich Village townhouse at 88 MacDougal Street is full-on historic from the outside, and completely chic once you walk through the doors. The seller is fashion photographer Francesco Carrozzini, who the Daily News says is singer Lana Del Rey’s boyfriend, and who has photographed the likes of Angelina Jolie, Naomi Campbell, Beyonce, and Heidi Klum. He bought it seven years ago for $6.8 million and is now trying to make a big profit with an ask of $16 million. Will that high price fly for this renovated townhouse, which includes a retractable rooftop penthouse and deck? Last year, it was on the rental market for $16,000 a month.
This four-story Greek Revival townhouse was built in 1844. It’s located within the MacDougal-Sullivan Gardens Historic District, a small district of 22 houses with a charming, private shared garden on MacDougal and Sullivan Streets between Houston and Bleecker Streets. Although some old details remain inside the house, like the wood-beamed ceilings, hardwood floors and a wood-burning fireplace, the renovation feels modern.
The first floor of the townhouse has the dining area, media room, and kitchenette. We also like the walls of built-in bookshelves on this floor.
The third-floor master suite has its very own private balcony, plus a big walk-in closet and en-suite bathroom with a steam shower. There’s another room that could be used as a study or bedroom and another bathroom with a soaking tub. Two more bedrooms, each with an en-suite bath, occupy the fourth floor.
At the top of the townhouse sits a penthouse, where skylights bring in light from the top of the staircase. The best perk up here? A retractable roof so you can enjoy the space in good weather and bad.
And here’s a look at the rear garden, which backs up to the private shared garden that is a part of the historic district. A stylish and modern townhouse with historic, charming gardens surrounding it? We’ll take it.
