$14M “single family masterpiece” on the Upper West Side stuns in seafoam
The current owners of the Upper West Side townhouse at 144 West 82nd Street took on a careful renovation that they’re hoping will appeal to a new buyer. The 6,193-square-foot residence was transformed into a grand single-family home, with impressively restored, ornate interior details paired with modern appliances and perks like a wine room and elevator. (They’ve also finished much of the interior in shades of seafoam green.) The owners bought in 2000 for $3.6 million–post reno, it’s asking a $13.9 million.
The list of interior details is long: Brazilian cherry and quarter-sawn oak floors with borders, intricate crown moldings, and five working fireplaces that operate as either wood-burning or gas. The garden and parlor floor hold a kitchen, breakfast room, den, formal dining room, gallery and living room.
The garden-floor kitchen and breakfast room were finished in a distinct seafoam green. These dining spaces lead to the den, which then opens to the back patio.
An ornate staircase with a stunning wrought iron banister will take you to the bedrooms upstairs. Or, of course, there’s a commercial-grade, mahogany-paneled elevator.
There are six bedrooms and six-and-half bathrooms total. The master suite is located on the third floor. The bedroom has access to a balcony, plus an ensuite bathroom and a sitting room with a fireplace.
Bedrooms on the fourth and fifth floors are all separated by their own bathrooms. One has access to its own terrace.
In fact, the home has plentiful outdoor space that includes a large garden as well as two additional terraces. The Upper West Side locale is also convenient to two incredible green spaces, Central Park and Riverside Park.
Impressive inside and out, the townhouse hits a balance between historic details and top-of-the-line, upscale upgrades. The listing calls it “one of a kind” and we’d have to agree. Just be sure to check out a few more interior shots in the gallery below.
