To appeal to more buyers, the owner of this South Street Seaport penthouse will accept digital currency as payment. The loft-style three-bedroom home at 130 Beekman Street is currently on the market for $3,295,000 or 88 bitcoin. The apartment is the first time a Compass listing in Manhattan is available for purchase with cryptocurrency, according to the agent marketing the property, Rachel Glazer.
“New York City is roaring back to life and outdoor space is highly sought after,” Glazer said. “Inspired by the energy in the city and particularly by the recent surge in the real estate market, we wanted to tap into the enthusiasm surrounding digital currency. The seller is in the tech space and thought this would add even more appeal for potential buyers.”
The property hit the market last summer for $3,995,000 and then re-listed early this year for $3,450,000. The latest price change dropped the price by $155,000 to $3,295,000.
The top-floor apartment features three bedrooms and three baths across 2,035 square feet. Located on the lower level is an expansive living and dining area, plus the two massive outdoor terraces,  ideal for entertaining.
Also on this level are the sleek stainless steel kitchen, two bedrooms (one with a built-in Murphy bed), and tons of extra storage. The primary suite, equipped with an ensuite bath, walk-in closet, and private terrace, sits on the upper level, accessible via a stunning white-powder coated steel staircase.
Modern upgrades include a new central heating and cool systems, a built-in speaker system, nest security cameras, digital thermostats, with all systems controlled through “Alexa.”
Located on a picturesque cobblestone street between Water and Front Streets, 130 Beekman Street, also known as Beekman Landing, was built in 1798 and converted to condos in 2001. The five-floor building is within the South Street Seaport Historic District and is just minutes from Pier 17.
