$3.8M Soho Pad Boasts a Townhouse Design in a Condo Building
You don’t find many townhouses in Soho, a neighborhood better known for its massive warehouses converted to lofty apartments. The next best thing? This triplex condo at 29 King Street that feels a whole lot like a townhouse. Each of the three floors is accessed by a private elevator, with a double-height living room that looks out onto the unit’s 900-square-foot garden. The townhouse layout then comes with condo perks like a full-time super, laundry room and storage.
Although the condo building is historic—a landmarked, former grammar school built in 1886—the apartment itself feels pretty modern. The garden level, with ten foot ceilings, has oversized windows that look out onto the unit’s garden as well as neighboring gardens, creating quite the lush and tranquil view. This floor holds the dining room and kitchen, plus an entrance out into the green space.
One flight up on the elevator leads to the living room level, which has even higher ceilings (14 feet!) and even larger windows with that same garden view. The room is also decorated with a Vermont Cast-iron gas fireplace.
The second floor also has an office, plus an open staircase that leads to a bonus, mezzanine level. The mezzanine is now split into two rooms, but could be combined into a large bedroom.
There are three bedrooms total, two of which are located in the English basement below the garden floor. This level comes with direct access to the garden, too.
This garden is a total stunner, and comparable to any townhouse backyard. Tons of greenery and pathways lend it a “secret garden” feel.
