$3M Mansion Has a 130-Foot-Long Bomb-Proof Underground Tunnel
At first glance, this Voorhees, NJ home known as the Alton Estate seems like your average, over-the-top, suburban mega-mansion, with its ridiculous amenities like a Grecian-inspired pool, two-story pool house that connects to the main house via an above-ground ramp, 12-person Jacuzzi, DJ booth, full gym with cedar-lined sauna, soundproof movie theater, and 42-seat bar. But then it gets really interesting. First noted by Curbed, the listing touts a 130-foot-long, solid concrete, underground bomb-proof tunnel. It’s not clear why the owners installed this insane panic room, but for those who live in fear of the Apocalypse, and have $2.9 to spare, here’s your dream home.
Thanks to the aforementioned amenities, the outdoor area at the mansion is quite the party place. There are also opulent fountains and waterfalls, incredible landscaping, and plenty of room for dancing the night away to the spinning tunes of the DJ.
The listing states that this is “the smartest smart home” and that it’ll “make Steve Jobs proud” with its fully functioning remote security and systems management.
In addition to the French country kitchen, there’s a second commercial-grade kitchen for catering, as well as 22- and 42-seat bars.
Built in 1990 and situated on 1.14 acres, the mansion has 17 rooms and a 3-car attached garage. When the party’s over and things get a little serious (which is likely a common occurrence for folks with a private bomb shelter) there are private meeting and conference rooms in the basement.
What do you think, is this bomb-proof mansion worth its $3 million price tag?
