Gwyneth Paltrow Shares Pictures of $13M Tribeca Penthouse on Her Blog Goop
When 6sqft wrote about Gwyneth Paltrow’s $14.25 million Tribeca penthouse, listed in March, the only interior photos available were slightly blurry, outdated versions from the designer Roman and Williams. But now, perhaps in an attempt to unload the 4,400-square-foot loft (she also reduced the price to $12.85 million), Gwyneth herself has published beautiful images of the home on her blog Goop. First spotted by Time, they showcase the space’s famous fuzzy nap zones, as well as “artisanal” details like a swing in the living room made of an antique Indian door and a master bed “so enormous that sheets had to be custom-made.”
The blog post starts by differentiating the artisanal nature of Gwynie’s apartment versus those with “rough-hewn wooden beams and exposed lightbulb filaments.” Her home at the River Lofts “floats above the cobblestone streets like a pale, dreamy cloud” thanks to “pastel silks, hand-embroidered wallpapers, and cool swaths of marble.”
When the actress and lifestyle guru contacted the design firm to redo the space, she asked for a departure from their usual dark and moody interiors. According to Robin Standefer, principal at Roman and Williams, “Gwyneth saw how we could instead channel this ethereal palette: light delicate whites, palest lavenders, grays, silvers, embroidery details.”
Standefer describes the kitchen as “intense and strong” due to the mass of marble, but also notes how it takes on a “sensual” quality. The foyer is modeled on that of a traditional English home.
Gwyneth and then-husband Chris Martin bought the apartment as a pied-a-terre in 2007 for $5.1 million after selling a nearby loft at 13 Harrison Street that they’d bought in 2005 for $7.95 million. Since the family is now based full-time in LA, Gwyneth and her people decided to finally provide a look inside the Tribeca apartment. See the full piece on Goop.
