The listing for this .28 acre East Hampton property is billed as “the ultimate beach cottage” and we’d have to agree. It’s owned by the English drummer Simon Kirke, best known for playing with the bands Free and Bad Company. There’s the main house, which was recently renovated, as well as a deck, pool and rear cottage currently configured as a music studio. The whole package, located right on Accabonac Harbor, has views of the harbor to the west and of Gardiner’s Bay to the east.
The house has more quirk than luxurious interiors, and it’s been renovated with an open plan “for easy beach living,” as the listing says. The living room (which boasts its own wood-burning fireplace), and kitchen span the length of the home, with each area framed by oversized windows that look to the south and west.
It’s hard not to like this funky kitchen, with the tin ceilings, blue and yellow painted wood floors, vintage furniture and custom lighting. Views from here look out onto the water.
Here’s the master bedroom. Those double doors lead out onto the deck, pool and extra studio space.
There are only two bedrooms total, and the guest bedroom is located on the opposite “wing” of the home from the master bedroom.
Even the bathroom is totally unique, with a metal ceiling and tin detailing around the tub.
This is the rear cottage on the property, currently configured as a music studio. Underneath those beamed wood ceilings is an extra lofted storage space plus a bathroom.
Talk about a nice property, even in the off season. The listing says this is one of the few in the area that comes with a pool. There’s a gated entry, plenty of grassy spaces to relax, and a view of sunrises over the bay on one side of the house and sunsets above the harbor on the other side. Hard to complain with that!
