You Could Live in This Quirky Pixelated Brooklyn Loft for $5,200/Month
This loft comes from the the former Doehler Die Casting Factory, located at 505 Court Street in Carroll Gardens, Brooklyn. The building was constructed in 1913 and the loft was first renovated in the ’80s, but since then it’s been transformed into something really special.
That’s because it has undergone a top-to-bottom renovation by SABO Project, who stripped the entire space to reveal the building’s historic details and then added a sleek, modern touch. The result is a stunning, airy and bright space that we’ve drooled over before. Now, it’s on the rental market and you could live in the loft yourself for $5,200 a month.
SABO Project was able to build out 12-foot ceilings and open up more than 1,200 square feet of space within the loft. What really makes it unique are the new Tetris-like partitions, custom cabinets and glass enclosures they built out within the wide-open space. None of these additions are too overwhelming, making sure light streams through the entire apartment.
The large warehouse windows are complemented by exposed concrete ceiling slabs and columns, a nod to the historic interior of the former warehouse.
The kitchen has custom cabinetry, a peninsular kitchen counter, and a dishwasher that blends in with the kitchen cabinets. Lots of neutral colors, transparent and opaque materials make the loft feel even larger than it really is.
The are two bedrooms and one bathroom total. Both bedrooms can fit a queen-sized bed and look out west over the rest of Brooklyn and lower Manhattan.
Despite the muted palette–there are no more than nine shades of three different colors used within the apartment — the bathroom is eye-popping. This room was designed around a diamond-shaped ceramic tile, and the tile actually inspired the various dimensions seen within the rest of the apartment. As the listing says, it’s “one of the most visually pleasing baths you will see in Brooklyn.” We totally agree –and would go so far as to call this one of the most visually pleasing modern apartments in all of of Brooklyn!
