This $5.5M West Village Pad Has a Glass Catwalk and Will Make Your Frienemies Very Jealous
Whether or not it’s your actual dream apartment, this three-bedroom co-op at 377 West 11th Street in the lovely and leafy West Village has New York City dream apartment written all over it. It’s that one you’d want if you were going to throw a casual cocktail soiree and invite your ex, your ex-boss, those mean girls from the eighth grade or pretty much anyone you wanted to impress to the point of torment with your perfect life, starting with your perfect $5.5 million apartment. The one with a glass-encased floating catwalk. Says the listing, “At 3,200 square feet, this sprawling home has everything you could want in a New York apartment.” Everything, except your extremely envious ex.
This listing instructs us to “Be prepared to be AWED!” So prepared we are; we covered another statement-making, though lower-floor, unit in this building with some cool glass features that sold for its ask of $3.45 million about a year ago, but the stakes grow ever higher.
Though it’s in a classic brick pre-war co-op, this house-sized dramatic duplex home boasts plenty of modern perks like shiny new appliances, a Savant home electronics system and a laundry room. Huge south and east facing windows bring in natural light all day long, highlighting 20-foot ceilings, striking columns, and other loft-like historic details. The vast open living space is punctuated by a wood-burning fireplace and giant windows facing north and east.
An open chef’s kitchen holds top-of-the-line appliances, a wine fridge and a big island bar for envious guests to gather around. The open mezzanine, complete with glass-encased catwalk, floats above this space.
And this is the glass-encased catwalk. Floating above the space. Hors-d’oeuvre?
Bedrooms (three, with possibilities) are accessible from multiple points on the lower level. The master is huge, and apparently there’s “plenty of room for a home office, den, children’s playroom–even ample storage to accommodate multiple strollers.” But we’re getting ahead of ourselves.
Some humble-brag factoids to drop into the party chitchat: The co-op board is friendly and easygoing, and the maintenance is quite low.
And, of course, it goes without saying that this coveted West Village location preeeetty much nails it. In addition to the shopping, bistros and bars steps away on these lovely blocks, the Hudson River Greenway is at the end of the block, and the High Line is just up Washington Street, where it connects with the new Whitney.
