Etelamaki Architecture’s Minimalist Prospect Heights Townhouse Is Warm and Inviting
Prospect Heights hasn’t always been the most desirable area, but in the past 30 years this neighborhood has seriously upped its game. With beautiful townhouses like this one, renovated by the design team from Etelamaki Architecture, it’s easy to see why the neighborhood has continued on the up and up. While each room of this home has noteworthy details, our favorite feature by far is the sweeping staircase that adds fluidity and elegance to this urban structure. Continue ahead for more.
The open living room and kitchen set the stage for the room’s grandiose marble fireplace. The modern coffee table and streamlined furniture all complement the home’s sleek lines and minimalist style.
A white wall, complete with additional storage, separates the home’s interior, making it feel bigger and more functional by designating smaller spaces for specific purposes. The makeshift hallway also opens up to several windows allowing natural light to illuminate the cool gray kitchen and light hardwood floors.
The far end of the room features a rustic wooden dining room table, and open shelving is introduced via the room’s dividing wall, which also allows for a visual separation without compromising the flow of natural light within the space.
The stairwell leading to the upper level of this townhouse is beautifully constructed. The pillars supporting the dark banister appear thinner and longer than the standard stairwell and gives the structure an open, sophisticated feel.
A vibrant den at the top of the steps is punctuated with a citrus-colored accent wall, playful metal partitions and mid-century modern furnishings.
The bright accent colors from the den are repeated in the textiles of the master bedroom, and large square windows facing the bed invite natural light into the space. The nursery is soft and inviting, and the warm color palette is soothing and light.
From one room to the next, the designers of this townhouse have done a magnificent job of creating visual interest through soft tones and minimalist detailing without leaving the space cold and uninviting.
