DHD Interiors’ Spectacular Tribeca Penthouse Design Is Fun, Fashionable, and Family-Friendly
One of the key challenges to successful design is understanding the day-to-day needs of your client and marrying those needs with a sensorially pleasing aesthetic. When tasked with reconfiguring this 5,500-square-foot triplexed penthouse found in one of New York’s original cast iron façade buildings, DHD Interiors‘ goal was “to create a cool and chic family home ideal for entertaining but also conducive to a fun family life.”
Mission accomplished.
The Tribeca home’s clean lines and upscale details peacefully coexist with vivid colors and dynamic furniture designed by Vladimir Kagan that infuse a sense of joie de vivre throughout. The living and family rooms are perfect examples of spaces with an identity that alternates between stylish, artsy and decidedly grown-up and whimsical and playground-like depending on your perspective.
The open and bright dining room, lorded over by four original Andy Warhol skull prints, continues the residence’s intriguing dichotomy, with a long custom live edge table that delights adults and children alike albeit for different reasons.
The master bedroom’s rich wood accents and pyramid skylight create a perfect sanctuary, yet it’s such an inviting space–one can easily see a bunch of kids piled onto the king-sized bed or playing happily on room’s the colorful rug.
The master bath, whose stunning entrance doors are like something out of “Game of Thrones,” is modern and warm, with a fabulous Gaudí-esque mosaic installation in the shower and a floating tub visually framed by a rich walnut wall.
With additional pieces by Edward Fields, Tom Dixon and Missoni, and a 3,000-square-foot terrace and rooftop complete with a custom stainless steel swimming pool, this gorgeous residence is a wonderful example of how spectacular design can be fun, fashionable and family-friendly.
