Andrew Franz’s Signature Style Makes a Mark with This Elegant Townhouse in the East Village
The East Village is one of NYC’s most sought-after neighborhoods, and this beautiful townhouse located in its landmark district speaks to the area’s down-to-earth yet sophisticated and modern appeal. The four-level home recently underwent a massive renovation led by the design team from Andrew Franz Architect. Andrew Franz is known for their seamless integration of outdoor and structural elements, and with many of their projects it’s hard to tell where one ends and the other begins. With their signature style running rampant throughout the space, this stately home is no exception.
The living room and dining room are connected through a wide hallway, and large floor-to-ceiling windows run parallel on each outside facing wall to make the space feel open and airy.
The living room features light green walls, sleek light wood cabinetry and rustic dark wood columns, all accented with a vibrant floral sofa. The organic theme of the room is brought together with the expansive wall of windows and glass doorway opening up to the gorgeously landscaped garden.
The same aesthetic can be found throughout the home varying between contemporary, rustic and classic furnishings and details.
The design team worked hard to preserve as much of the original structure as possible including the home’s historic façade, windows and interior details. All of this was done to improve the property’s flow, comfort, efficiency and amenity while also expressing the client’s notion of family.
