Carmelo and LaLa Anthony Step Up Penthouse Search and Tour a $48M Tribeca Duplex
If you were impressed by the $15 million Chelsea penthouse that Carmelo and LaLa Anthony toured last month, you’re definitely going to think their latest real estate interest is a slam dunk. The couple recently toured a $48 million duplex penthouse in Tribeca‘s Sky Lofts at 145 Hudson Street.
James Carpenter, the same architect responsible for 7 World Trade Center, designed the four-bedroom glass house atop an historic Art Deco loft building. And with 7,500 square feet of interior space as well as a 4,500-square-foot wrap-around terrace, the home set a record for highest-priced Manhattan apartment south of Columbus Circle when it was originally purchased for $30 million in 2009 (a record later broken by the $50.9 million sale of the Walker Tower penthouse).
We’re not sure if the Anthonys are into fine art, but the sprawling pad was designed with the collector in mind, as its glass envelope is sun- and temperature-controlled. Other features include 22-foot ceilings, troweled plaster walls and ceilings, polished museum-quality concrete flooring, heated bathroom floors, three wood-burning fireplaces, two elliptical staircases and 360-degree panoramic views.
The 42′ x 21′ living room is perfect for entertaining and is surrounded by a floor-to-ceiling plain-sawn cherry wood hearth. The chef’s kitchen has custom white lacquer cabinets, bluestone counters, and professional-grade appliances.
The massive terrace with views of One World Trade Center, the Empire State Building, and the Hudson River is definitely the shining star of this home. It boasts an outdoor stainless steel kitchen, sun deck, hot tub and outdoor shower.
