Bruce Willis Buys $12 Million, 22-Acre Site in Bedford, NY
Lots of Hollywood celebrities are making waves in Bedford, New York this week. Just after it was reported that Michael Douglas and Catherine Zeta-Jones sold their home in the woodsy Westchester town for $7.5 million, in turn closing on a nearby property for $11 million, it’s now making headlines that Bruce Willis has dropped $12 million on two Bedford parcels totaling 22.32 acres. The actor has been very busy with real estate lately. He recently listed his Sun Valley ski house and Beverly Hills estate and bought a Central Park West apartment.
Willis and his wife Emma Heming will now get to enjoy the 8,000-square-foot, shingle-style home, as well as the adjoining property’s antique house and two renovated guest cottages.
The main residence has five bedrooms, six bathrooms, and sits on one of the highest points in Bedford overlooking the Croton Reservoir and Highland of the Hudson. It also boasts a 1,500-bottle, climate-controlled wine cellar; mature gardens; a 15 x 20 swimming pool with a heated cabana and outdoor shower; four-car garage; and tennis court.
The house was built in 2009, but the interior is a perfect balance of modern conveniences and traditional design, including several wood-burning fireplaces, beamed and vaulted ceilings, and plenty of windows.
Willis is joining a long roster of A-list residents in the Westchester area. In addition to Michael Douglas and Catherine Zeta-Jones, his new neighbors are Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds (who will move into their Bedford home after their child is born), Ben Stiller in Chappaqua, Richard Gere in Pound Ridge, and Governor Cuomo and Sandra Lee in nearby Mount Kisco.
