Ghislaine Viñas’ Colorful and Eclectic Design Seamlessly Blends Together on Greenwich Street

Just like the bright pink background of her website, Ghislaine Viñas’ interior designs grab your attention and never let it go. Bold color combinations that might seem garish in the hands of a lesser talent only serve to underscore Viñas’ “off roading” philosophy of experimentation and exploration.

Above, in a room where the huge white fireplace might otherwise overwhelm the space, we simply fell in love with how the living room’s red and blue furniture mirror the rainbow rug’s gradual transition from one end of the spectrum to the other. But even with two such strong focal points, Viñas’ other design elements demand notice, like the fireplace seating and the adorable (yes, adorable) rhinoceros head mounted on the wall between the living and dining areas.

Although most of the walls are actually a stark white or a muted exposed brick, and the floors are a light wood, each room is bursting with color nonetheless, perfectly staged with furniture and accessories that are vibrant in both palette and design. A fitting “solid gold” neon sign above a cozy seating nook, is a beautiful example of her award-winning touch.

Somehow even that quirky little sign and rhino successfully compete with the very large, very geometric, and very red neighboring wall art, which presides over the dining room table. And what could have been a bland and pallid kitchen comes alive with a pumpkin orange subway tile backsplash, whimsically striped chairs, and flourishes like the distinctive red fruit basket and eye-catching artwork: a non-traditional subject for a kitchen, but Viñas makes the bicycle work.

The fact is that Viñas makes everything work down to every last detail. Each element has its place and even the most eclectic of design choices all seamlessly blend together into visual and functional perfection.
