Queens’ most expensive condo is this $4.995M penthouse in Long Island City

A massive loft penthouse in Long Island City hit the market this week for $4,995,000, the most expensive condo in the borough of Queens. The home measures a palatial 5,400 square feet across two levels on the top floor of the Arris Lofts, once home to the Eagle Electric Manufacturing Factory and now a full-service condo building. The property has three bedrooms, three and a half baths, and two private outdoor spaces that deliver an up-close look at the ever-evolving neighborhood.
If the apartment, located at 27-28 Thomson Avenue, fetches the current asking price, it would become Queens’ most expensive condo. Also in Long Island City, the borough’s current title holder is a penthouse at 46-30 Center Boulevard, which sold for $3,451,000 in June 2020 after initially listing for $4.25 million in 2017.
The current owners purchased one unit at the building in 2006 and then later purchased another unit next to it, combining them to build their dream home. In a 2018 story featuring the apartment, owner Stephen Fox told 6sqft he toured the apartment when it was still under construction and fell in love with the “high ceilings, industrial look, and proximity to the city.”
Boasting an open floor plan living space, the home has 13-foot ceilings and oversized windows equipped with electric blinds. In addition to the three full bedrooms, a bonus room can become the perfect home office, nursery, or walk-in closet.
There are two private outdoor terraces, with the lower one serving as an extension of the kitchen and dining area. A wrap-around staircase leads to the over 2,300-square-foot rooftop, equipped with a full irrigation system.
And the loft’s skyline and East River views are Hollywood-approved. The Netflix show Master of None with Aziz Ansari and the CBS show Elementary, starring Lucy Liu and Johnny Lee Miller, both filmed scenes at the penthouse.
Amenities at the Arris Lofts include a huge lobby with a fireplace and a courtyard with Japanese-inspired landscaping. There is also a fitness center, lap pool, residents lounge, and a shared roof deck. Located in Long Island City’s Court Square neighborhood, the building is just minutes from the E, M, G, and 7 subway trains.
