Former New York Yankee Derek Jeter has finally found a buyer for his unique compound in upstate New York. As first reported by Mansion Global, the 50,000-square-foot waterfront estate in Greenwood Lake, known as Tiedemann Castle, sold last week after several years on and off the market. Jeter purchased the property in 2003 and spent 15 years renovating the “castle” before listing it for $14.75 million in 2018. While the final price is not known since it hasn’t closed yet, the home at 14 Lake Shore Road was most recently listed for $6.3 million.

As 6sqft previously reported, the property has familial significance for Jeter, who retired in 2014 and has since relocated to Miami. His grandfather Sonny Connors, the adopted son of John and Julia Tiedemann who purchased the home in 1952, was raised on the property. As a boy, Jeter spent his summers on the grounds, according to the 2011 book, “The Captain: The Journey of Derek Jeter,” by Ian O’Connor.

The huge property sits along 700 feet of shoreline and on four acres. The estate includes a 9,000-square-foot main house with 24 rooms plus a 2,000-square-foot guest house, and a 1,500-square-foot pool house.

The castle-inspired property includes a six-foot stone wall at its entrance gate, a replica of the Statue of Liberty guarding over the home, a roof with a “widow’s walk,” and a baseball diamond-shaped infinity pool.

Other mansion perks include an elevator, four indoor kitchens, and an outdoor kitchen with a wood-burning fireplace.

Roughly an hour from Manhattan by car, Tiedemann Castle hit the auction block in 2022 but failed to find a buyer. The property “reappeared on the market” last month for $6.3 million, as Mansion Global notes.
