Beach houses tend not to resonate the same way when you look at them after the summer, but this Amagansett gem would surely make a lovely fall or winter escape as well. Just off Napeague Ocean Beach, the modern home underwent a full custom renovation last year thanks to its owner, fashion designer Tony Melillo. So it’s no surprise that the property echoes the same “embodiment of relaxed elegance” that is the calling card for his signature ATM collection. From the special charred cedar wood facade to the Dineson Douglas fir floors from Denmark, the materials feel cool in the summer and warm in the colder months, while the outdoor space is also set for any temperature, with a patio fireplace and outside shower.

The rich materiality begins before you’re even inside, with terrazzo stone floors and the Blackwood Shou Sugi cedarwood and siding that was charred using a special Japanese technique and imported from Blackwood Siding in Canada.

Inside, the open living spaces are all highlighted by massive walls of glass and plank flooring created of Dineson Douglas fir from Denmark. This wood is also used on the living room accent wall that frames a contemporary fireplace. The Danish influence is more impactful in the kitchen, which was custom designed by Danish-based firm VIPP. It features a stunning matte black island, matching black open shelving, a custom VIPP stovetop, and other high-end appliances by Miele.

Through floor-to-ceiling sliding glass doors is a spacious deck perfect for alfresco meals and cocktails that boats a Paloform fire pit.

Open to the other end of the deck are the three bedrooms; the primary suite has an en-suite bathroom and opens to the portion of the deck with an outdoor shower. There’s a fourth bedroom suite that takes up the small second level, as well.

Below the deck is another cozy outdoor seating area, wrapped in terrazzo.

As mentioned, the home is just one block to the beach. It’s 1,800 square feet in total and sits on .68 acres of land.
