NYC is selling authentic ‘Cornelia Street’ signs

Attention Swifties! New York City’s Department of Transportation (DOT) is selling a limited number of authentic, commemorative Cornelia Street signs, as part of the agency’s monthly “sign drops.” Taylor Swift once rented a home on the Greenwich Village street and name-dropped the block in the 2019 song “Cornelia Street.”
The handmade signs are made at the NYC DOT Sign Shop, which makes over 70,000 signs each year.
As part of this latest DOT drop, just 200 signs, half in “Historic District Brown” and the other half in “Sunset Pink” are available for purchase. They cost $75 each.
All signs will be sold at the CityStore and proceeds will go to the city’s general fund. Each customer is limited to one sign.
“Music lovers from around the globe visit Cornelia Street and now they can own an authentic piece of this street, heartbreak and nostalgia not included,” NYC DOT Commissioner Ydanis Rodriguez said in a press release.
“We look forward to our next monthly sign drop, which allow all who love New York City to celebrate the people, places, and special occasions that make this the greatest city in the world.”
The agency began its monthly sign drops in June with Christopher Street/ Stonewall Place street signs to celebrate Pride Month. Last month, a Beastie Boys Square street sign commemorated the 35th anniversary of the New York-based band’s album “Paul’s Boutique.”
Future sign drops will honor other iconic streets, as well as famous New Yorkers, celebrations of special occasions, and other custom releases, as 6sqft reported.
