A housing lottery launched this week for 150 middle-income apartments at a new mixed-use development in the Hunter’s Point section of Long Island City. Located at 2-33 50th Avenue, Jasper is a 12-story building that offers residents a holistic living experience with state-of-the-art amenities and convenient access to a grocery store, restaurants, and other retail options on the ground level. New Yorkers earning 130 percent of the area median income can apply for the units, priced from $2,900/month studios to $5,039/month three-bedrooms.

Developed as part of a joint venture between the Domain Companies, LMXD, the VOREA Group, and Bridge Investment Group and designed by S9 Architecture, Jasper offers 499 residences and ground-floor retail, near the waterfront and Gantry State Park. Seven retailers have already been announced, with more to be revealed in the coming weeks, and 83 percent of the retail space has already been leased.

Tenants include Dumbo Market grocery store, Bright Start early childhood development center, Club Pilates, Glowbar facial membership studio, Frankie’s Brooklyn Pizza, Tiger J Taekwondo, and Matsuzuki Sakura, a sushi and sashimi restaurant. These retailers will open alongside Jasper’s completion in early 2025.

The building is also near public green space at Gantry State Park.

Jasper will strive for LEED Platinum certification and participate in the state’s Brownfield Cleanup Program. Move-ins are slated for Q1 2025.

“With affordable apartments for the Long Island City community, diverse retail offerings, premier amenities including spaces to gather, exercise, and more, we envision a vibrant residential community and have designed Jasper with that in mind,” Matt Schwartz, co-CEO of the Domain Companies, said.

Jasper is conveniently located near the 7, E, N, G, W, R, and F subway lines.

Qualifying New Yorkers can apply for the apartments until December 21, 2024. Complete details on how to apply are available here.
