Investor and attorney Donald Schupak gained fame back in 1976 when he oversaw the merger of the ABA and the NBA and garnered a highly lucrative deal for the Spirits of St. Louis. In 2015, he tried to score another deal when he listed his huge Upper East Side co-op at 1050 Fifth Avenue for $30 million. This time, he wasn’t so successful, as it never sold. But he’s now put the seven-bedroom, 7,500-square-foot spread–complete with Central Park views–back on the market for the reduced price of $21 million.
Schupak purchased the full-floor apartment more than 25 years ago. When he first tried to sell it in 2015, Corcoran broker Amy Katcher, who is once again handling the listing, told the NY Observer that he and his wife decided to list the home since their children were grown and it was, therefore, a lot of space.
Nearly the whole living space is lined with windows, providing views of Central Park South’s skyline, the George Washington Bridge, and the Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis Reservoir. In total, there is 1,500 square feet of outdoor space divided among three terraces–one off the living/dining rooms, one off two of the secondary bedrooms, and one private to the primary bedroom suite.
Throughout are shiny marble floors and new, oversized noise-reduction windows.
Currently, there’s a separate study off the living room, but this can be opened up to create one large 40-foot-long living room facing Central Park.
The home has a whopping 16 rooms, which includes a library, sauna, meeting room, home office, two kitchenettes, laundry room, media room, and gym. There are also nine bathrooms and two powder rooms.
The primary bedroom suite has a dressing room, two en-suite bathrooms, walk-in closet, adjacent study, and private terrace.
All but one of the other bedrooms have en-suite bathrooms.
The co-op building is located on the northeast corner of 86th Street. It was built in 1960 and has 90 apartments spread over its 19 floors.
