The black walls at this Noho condo don’t make the space feel as dark as you’d expect, but they do succeed in adding a subtle gritty feel to the two-bedroom home. Located at 344 Bowery, the apartment was designed by Francisca Trujillo, who, according to the listing, took inspiration from “New York’s garage-rock scene,” even hiring street artists to cover the elevator door and foyer with graffiti installations. The floor-through, two-bedroom loft is asking $3 million.
In the living room, an office nook is set up outside the elevator door, which functions more as an art piece. The massive bay window and window seat overlook the Bowery.
Throughout the 1,777-square-foot loft, you’ll find solid Brazilian walnut floors, high ceilings, and the aforementioned exposed brick walls painted black.
The open kitchen is separated from the dining room by a large breakfast bar that can seat four. It features a white subway tile backsplash, industrial-style lighting, and a decorative shelf wrapping around the perimeter. There are Sub Zero, Viking, and Bosch appliances.
The hallway off the kitchen, which features a floor-to-ceiling street art mural, separates the living spaces from the bedrooms. Here, there’s a full bathroom and a utility closet that has a washer/dryer and a wine cooler.
In the secondary bedroom, the exposed brick has been painted white. It has a large closet, and both bedrooms feature motorized shutters.
The corner master bedroom is wrapped in windows. Through a custom 8′ X 10′ walk-in closet is the en-suite bathroom.
The building was built in the late 1800s as a metal factory and was converted to a five-unit boutique condo in 2007. Rumor has it that it was used by Andy Warhol at one time to house his artwork.
