Cat Greenleaf lists her famous ‘Talk Stoop’ townhouse in Cobble Hill for $3M

“If These Steps Could Talk,” starts the listing. From 2009 to 2017, this utterly charming Cobble Hill townhouse flashed on television screens for Cat Greenleaf’s talk show Talk Stoop, where she interviewed celebrities from her own Brooklyn stoop. The brick rowhouse at 12 Wyckoff Street has just hit the market for $2,995,000, and the interior is even better than we imagined, with contemporary furnishings and art mixing with farmhouse-chic architecture. Cat designed much of the quirky decor herself, from a life-size chessboard in the backyard to a Harry Potter closet under the staircase to a dreamy Moroccan-style den in the basement.
The townhouse was built in 1899 and retains most of its original details on the facade. It is a legal three-family home, but it’s currently configured as a three-bedroom upper duplex with a private deck over a two-bedroom garden unit. Both units have their own laundry and access to the backyard and finished basement. The garden apartment can be delivered vacant or with a tenant in place.
As the listing accurately describes, the house “has been stylishly updated with a keen focus on bright rooms, clean lines, and a smooth integration of interior and exterior living spaces.” This is on view nowhere better than the duplex’s main floor. Off the entrance is the “Harry Potter closet,” and through a wood-beamed archway is the living/dining room that’s highlighted by beamed ceilings (some are original, some are reclaimed from the Catskills), crisp white walls, and brightly colored accents.
The same aesthetic carries through to the open kitchen, where an exposed brick wall mixes with a cool barn door and open shelving. Other features include a large wooden center island that seats four, stainless steel appliances and cabinetry, more butcherblock counters, and a white subway tile backsplash.
Off the kitchen is a deck that leads down to the rear yard, where the life-size chess set is perhaps the most whimsical part of the house.
The basement is still rather raw, but it’s been designed with Moroccan-style poufs and shabby chic accessories, creating a comfy lounge area.
On the upper floor are three bedrooms and a bathroom in the hall.
The master bedroom has a very large walk-in closet (which we can’t stop exploring!).
On her website, Cat describes herself as a “dumpster diver” and “real estate dabbler.” Before Talk Stoop, she hosted cable shows Craftlab, Vacation Home Search, and Chasing History Home. She now has an upstate cabin with an Airstream trailer where she loves to spend time and practice her ukelele. So you can see where her love of kitschy and historic architecture and decor comes from.
Back in 2016, Cat first tried to sell the house, but as the photos demonstrate, she’s given it a full overhaul since then. She purchased the home in 2006 for just $850,000 with her husband Michael Rey, a 6o Minutes producer.
