Norah Jones is selling her 19th-century Cobble Hill townhouse for $8M

Grammy Award winner Norah Jones has listed her four-story townhouse in Cobble Hill for $8 million, the Wall Street Journal reported Monday. The Brooklyn home sits 25 feet wide at 166 Amity Street and contains five bedrooms, three bathrooms, and a backyard with a disappearing heated pool and hot tub. The singer-songwriter first picked up the 19th-century pad in 2009 for $4.9 million. Unfortunately, the vintage Krakauer piano found by the back door is not included in the sale.
“It’s a very special, warm home,” Jones told the WSJ in a statement. “My hunt for a home with a yard began when I got my dog, Ralph…It always felt like an escape from city life. I started my family, made a lot of music and had some truly magical times there.”
In 2015, the musician bought another home in Cobble Hill. Jones reportedly paid roughly $6.25 million for the historic carriage house, which was featured in the movie Eat, Pray, Love.
The home retains much of its 1800s style, with a Greek Revival-style exterior. Inside, the 4,500-square-foot home has been modernized with smartphone-controlled appliances, a heated pool, and central air conditioning.
Benefiting from three exposures, the townhouse fills with natural light and warmth. The parlor floor boasts two working fireplaces, original pocket doors, and oversized windows facing north and west.
The expansive chef’s kitchen sits on the home’s garden level and manages to seamlessly blend textures and styles. The room has an antique Garland stove, teak wood island, and a pantry made of reclaimed wood.
On the third floor, the master suite comes decked out with a fireplace and walk-in cedar closet. In the bathroom, the tub and steam shower sits next to a gas fireplace. Through this room, residents can access the 300-square-foot terrace via floor-to-ceiling French doors.
The top floor includes two additional bedrooms with a custom-designed full bath and a lounge area with a kitchenette. If an entire townhouse still isn’t enough space, the home also comes with a large finished basement for storage.
