Why buy when you can pay $125K/month for a $53M condo at One57–the city’s priciest rental
An 80th floor condo unit in West Midtown billionaires’ bunker One57 just hit the rental market for $125,000 a month, which Curbed informs us is the priciest rental ask in the city that isn’t in a hotel. The apartment at 157 West 57th Street was purchased for an also-eyebrow-raising $53M in 2014 by a buyer using the Pasadena, CA-registered LLC Lapusny, Inc. Given the 6,240-square-foot home’s high-floor status, it’s no surprise that there are 360 degree views of the Manhattan skyline of Central Park, the Hudson and East Rivers and pretty much to the ends of the Earth.
Through a key-locked elevator and a private landing, the apartment’s dramatic great room offers enough room for multiple seating areas and elegant dining along 57 linear feet over Central Park, seen through 12-foot floor-to-ceiling windows. Interiors were designed by Thomas Juul-Hansen.

In the floor plan’s south wing are the apartment’s four bedrooms as well as a sitting room and laundry room. The Master suite has full views to the north, east and south along with a dressing room, custom closets and a double master bath.
If you don’t think you can swing enough furniture to fill the 6,240-square-foot space, fear not. Though it will kick the rent up to $150,000 a month, the space is available fully furnished, too (excluding the art).
Amenities at the Christian de Portzamparc tower are as impressive as the views: Even as a mere renter you’ll get a 24-hour doorman/concierge, dining and function room, full catering kitchen, library with billiards room and 24-foot aquarium, arts and crafts atelier room, screening and performance room, fitness center and yoga studio, on-site parking garage and pet washing room. One 57 residents also get access to Park Hyatt Hotel services via a direct access elevator, which means you can add the hotel’s triple-height indoor swimming pool, spa, steam rooms, custom jacuzzi and spa portico and fifth floor bar and restaurant to your list of things to do on any given afternoon.
