Tommy Hilfiger’s former reality TV-famous Connecticut mansion lists for $6.75M
This incredible Greenwich, Connecticut mansion looks like something out of a television show, and, in fact, it has made many an appearance in the reality tv world. Owned by Tommy Hilfiger until 2006, it was the setting for his CBS design show “The Cut” and his kids’ MTV show “Rich Girls.” Built in 1999 on nearly five acres, the residence, known as “Appleyard Estate,” boasts stone walls and a cobblestone courtyard, a professional grade theater and music studio, a massive pool and hot tub, and tennis courts. And it’s just hit the market for $6.75 million.
The main home totals 10,000 square feet and has seven bedrooms and seven-and-a-half bathrooms. The interiors were imagined by celebrity interior designer and home stager Cheryl Eisen of Interior Marketing Group. “Style, creativity and family are in the DNA of this home. You can feel it from the moment you enter,” she said. “Our design truly honors the home’s traditional, colonial architecture married with modern living,” she continued.
On the main level are the family room, living room and library. A gourmet kitchen is set between the solarium, dining room, and terrace.
There are also three more bedrooms on the first floor.
Upstairs is the master suite plus two more bedrooms with en-suites. Yet another bedroom suite is on the third floor.
At the rear of the home are the theater and music studio, the latter of which was featured prominently in MTV’s “Rich Kids.”
Outside, you’ll find a pool, spa, har-tru tennis court, heated three-car garage and a cobblestone driveway “fit for a collector of fine vehicles,” according to the listing.
Previously, the Hilfigers lived in a nearby Georgian mansion known as “Stone Hill.” They sold it for $20 million in 2009. Around the same time, they bought and combined three units in the Plaza, spending this $20 mil on a lavish renovation that included “marble-clad rooms, vintage limestone fireplaces from England and a domed room that features a custom-designed “Elouise” mural designed by the children book’s illustrator Hilary Knight.” They’ve been trying to sell the Plaza penthouse since 2013, when they listed it for $80 million. It’s had several price chops and stints on and off the market since; it’s now listed for $50 million.
After selling Appleyard Estate in 2006, Tommy and Dee bought an equally impressive estate in Greenwich. Known as Round Hill, the “castle” with views all the way to NYC was built in 1939 for real-estate magnate Charles Vincent by famed Yale architect Greville Rickard (take a tour of their current home here). Sources say that the couple spends most of their time here, which is just 30 minutes from Manhattan, and at their other home in Palm Beach.
