A 40,000-square-foot mega-mansion in the New Jersey town of Cinnaminson hit the market last month for a whopping $24,950,000, a record-setting asking price for the area. Located at 2801 Riverton Road, about 30 minutes from Philadelphia, the home has been under construction for the last five years and is nearly complete. According to the Philadelphia Inquirer, the property belongs to the former husband-and-wife leaders of Tabula Rasa HealthCare, whose board ousted the couple from the company earlier this year.
Dr. Calvin Knowlton and Dr. Orsula Knowlton stepped down as leaders of the pharma tech company in September amid pressure from an outside investor. According to Philadelphia Business Journal, the South Jersey home cost the couple about $27 million to build and is about “90 percent complete,” with some personalization from the next owner needed.
“We really struggle with what words to use to describe this property,” Kevin Steiger, the Sotheby’s International Realty agent with the listing, told the Inquirer.
“This house lends itself to entertaining on a grand scale. It will be an amazing property for someone to live and entertain in.”
The four-floor home measures an incredible 40,000 square feet and contains seven bedrooms across four floors. A grand home requires a grand entrance: a marble-clad foyer with two floating staircases and views of the courtyard’s reflecting pool.
With a home this size, there’s plenty of flexibility to create a dream home. There are several living areas, which boast fireplaces, lots of windows, and soaring ceilings. In total, there are six fireplaces.
A massive kitchen is fully equipped with high-end appliances and more cabinet and counter space than most would know what to do with. In the room over, a dining room “fit for royalty,” as the listing describes, could comfortably host a State Dinner.
For a more casual setting, there’s a made-to-look rustic pub with bar seats, a legitimate pool table, and access to the outdoors.
As expected, the primary suite is a private sanctuary, with its own separate sitting area with a fireplace, spacious dual walk-in closets, and a luxurious bathroom. According to the listing, there’s a unique pneumatic elevator that brings you from the bathroom directly to the gym and indoor pool area.
Additional perks of the home include a car elevator that brings vehicles to a special room, multiple elevators, a home theater, a wine cellar, a chapel/meditation room, a finished basement, and the aforementioned indoor swimming pool and fitness center. Situated on nearly eight acres, the home has a reflecting pool in the rear of the U-shaped property.
