Clinton Hill Halloween Queen’s celebrated townhouse hits the market for $2.65M
Brooklynites know and love Janna Kennedy Hyten, the Halloween Queen of Clinton Hill. For over 20 years, she hosted a spooky bash known as Halloween 313 right outside her historic townhouse. Sadly, the performance has come to an end and Kennedy Hyten has gone ahead and listed her home –a duplex on the lower floors–for sale. The gorgeous spread, with tons of historic details intact, is asking $2.65 million.
The condo spans 2,860 square feet over the parlor and garden floors. The parlor is particularly stunning, with over 14-foot ceilings, elaborately carved woodwork, a fireplace, wooden shutters, the original parquet floors and solid walnut pocket doors.
The formal dining room, separated from the living room by the pocket doors, is lined with a gorgeous checkerboard parquet. The European-inspired kitchen was finished with marble counters, but there’s still plenty of original details in here, including the fireplace with its original slate mantle and parquet floors. There’s also a massive pantry, plus glass doors that lead to a “dining deck.”
From the deck, a staircase leads down to the landscaped private garden.
Three bedrooms–two of which are master sized, the other of which is used as a studio/office space–are nestled on the garden floor. There are two bathrooms down here, too, one right off the master bedroom.
This stunning five-story Neo-Grec mansion, with unusual flourishes, was designed by architect George Morse in 1882 for the industrial millionaire A. G. Jennings. It’s located on what’s known as “Mansion Row” of Clinton Hill. Over the years this particular home amassed some incredible stories–just ask Janna Kennedy Hyten. She and her epic Halloween bash will be missed.
