85th floor unit at One57 gets an $11M price chop, now listed at $59M
6sqft reported back in October that an 85th-floor unit in the building known for the city’s most expensive residential sale ever was back on the market after a total overhaul for a noteworthy $70 million. The 6,240-square-foot condominium was purchased by Canadian billionaire Lawrence Stroll for $55.6 million in 2014. After four months, the sprawling sky mansion has been discounted by $11 million according to Mansion Global; the building’s third-highest listing is now asking $59 million.
The apartment–surely in need of an update after three long years of being brand-new–received a total renovation and Stroll, an investor and Farrari collector, spared no expense, adding woven suede walls, a sculptural wall by artist Peter Lane, and a double-sided marble fireplace to the unit’s “double plunging view” over Central Park.
A dramatic great room is framed by walls of windows.
A bar and an open dining room are divided by a double-sided fireplace. One wall is comprised of a three-toned ceramic sculpture by the artist Peter Lane.
The kitchen has all the trimmings, of course (including a hidden ceiling TV), but it’s the views that take the cake.
Down a long corridor in the south wing, you’ll find a four-room master suite that spans 1,500 square feet floating above Central Park with the universe stretching out in every direction. You’ll also find a fireplace, two dressings rooms and a double bath with a spa shower and a steam room.
Two more bedrooms are here as well, all en-suite. A corner media room/library has another fireplace and built-in bookshelves–and we haven’t even gotten to the office yet (that’s next door, with downtown views). Also tucked into the bedroom wing is a laundry room.
The apartment is fully automated with a Vantage AV system to control lights, music, shades, and security. Should the new residents of this Billionaire’s Row anchor find themselves in need of a pool, a state-of-the-art fitness center or parking, they’ll find it among the amenities offered here.
The aforementioned highest sale ever was the $100.47 million paid in 2014 for a dizzying penthouse duplex on the 89th and 90th floors; the buyer was recently revealed as Dell Technologies founder Michael Dell.
