The Lenox Hill townhouse owned by Sonja Morgan has experienced about as many ups and downs on the market as the “Real Housewives of New York City” star herself. After years of trying to sell, Morgan is now renting her five-story, five-bedroom home at 162 East 63rd Street for $32,000/month. The hilarious hot-mess, who was formerly married to J.P. Morgan heir John Morgan and went bankrupt following their divorce, is currently being sued by her bankruptcy attorneys for not paying them a court-ordered fee of $350,000. Built in 1899, the Upper East Side townhouse features an elegant foyer, a spacious living room with a gas fireplace and a lush landscaped garden.
Morgan and her ex-husband first purchased the home in 1998 for $9.1 million, with its price fluctuating to $12 million, then down to $7.25 million, later returning to almost $10 million in 2013 and then hit the rental market for $25, 000/month.
The foyer leads to the gallery and living room that features a gas fireplace and a sitting room. On the same floor, stylish French doors open to the landscaped garden. The chef’s kitchen overlooks the garden through huge windows.
The home’s third floor is dedicated to the master suite, which boasts a wood-burning fireplace and a separate dressing room. Plus, the spa-like master bath with a claw foot tub is just as exquisite as you would expect. The other bedrooms can be found on the fourth and fifth floors, with views of the garden down below.
The townhouse is equipped with a security and alarm system, features central air conditioning and a full basement.
