A massive penthouse with star power has just hit the market for a cool $25 million. The apartment, located atop luxury West Village condo 1 Morton Square, was previously owned by Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen. According to Curbed, the famous twins bought the pad for $7.3 million in 2009 while the building was still under construction, put it on the market soon after buying, and finally sold in 2010. Well-known New York developer Bruce Eichner of the Continuum Company was the buyer–for $7.7 million–and now he’s looking to make quite the profit. The apartment is impressive, though, with interior details imported from France, a sculptural glass wine refrigerator, and a gallery to display art and sculptures.
It’s said the Olsen twins never lived here, and the more recent renovation was overseen by Eichner. A private elevator landing opens into a gallery space lined with artwork. The gallery then leads to a massive 32′ x 22′ living room, which features a wood-burning fireplace with a mantel imported from France.
It’s lined with floor-to-ceiling windows that frame stunning views of the waterfront and midtown skyline.
It’s an open flow apartment, in which the gallery leads to the living room, which leads to the formal dining space, situated within a rounded corner of glass in the apartment’s southeast corner. The dining room then flows right into the eat-in kitchen.
From the kitchen, you get views of the sunrise and the Empire State Building.
The sculptural glass wine refrigerator, which holds up to 1,000 bottles, “floats” in between the living room and kitchen.
The master bedroom boasts a walk-in closet that puts most Manhattan studios to shame.
The bathrooms have been decked out in marble, with the master bathroom boasting a claw-foot soaking tub and large marble shower.
Those windows, of course, offer impressive views toward the Hudson River on one end, and Midtown from another. Overall, it’s an apartment fit for both a celebrity and hot-shot New York developer. Just be sure to peruse the gallery below to see more shots of the stunning interior.
