Actress Lake Bell Lists Clinton Hill Townhouse for Double What She Paid
Back in 2013, just a few months before they tied the knot, actress Lake Bell and tattoo artist to the stars Scott Campbell dropped $1.55 million on a quaint Clinton Hill townhouse. Three years and one baby later, they’ve listed the home at 119 Vanderbilt Avenue for $3 million, double what they previously paid.
Located in the Wallabout Historic District, the four-story home was built in 1850 and has been “customized from top to bottom.” Bell and Campbell have configured it as a single-family residence–complete with historic details like a wood-burning fireplace, original marble mantles, custom engraved oak floors, panel molding, and antique lighting–but it’s a legal two-family duplex.
The house opens up to a foyer and then the grand parlor floor living and dining rooms. We’re not sure what the deal is on the living room floor, but it appears to be a nod to Campbell’s artistry.
The kitchen is in the back and though it’s fully outfitted with top-of-the-line stainless appliances and a giant soap stone stink, it retains historic elements like an exposed brick wall, butcher block counters, and rustic wood cabinetry.
There’s also a half bath located in a small extension at the rear, where a a deck and stairs lead to the terraced, landscaped garden. Here you’ll find a lovely outdoor fireplace and fountain. Below, the garden level holds two bedrooms and a storage area.
The entire third floor is the master suite, where a freestanding tub serves and the focal point. A small, extra room on this floor can be used as an office or nursery. On the top floor, a huge open space features 12-foot, vaulted ceilings, a second kitchen, and views of the 100-year-old Mulberry tree in the backyard. It can serve as a recreation room, entertaining level, or second master suite.
