A luxury high-rise building in Hudson Yards opened a lottery this week for 135 mixed-income apartments. Developed by Related Companies, The Set at 455 10th Avenue offers 270 studio, one-, and two-bedroom apartments in a hotel-like setting. For the below-market-rate homes, New Yorkers earning 40, 60, and 120 percent of the area median income can apply for the units, priced from $848/month to $3,473/month.

A studio apartment in the Brooklyn Tower has sold for $905,000, marking the most expensive studio sale on a price-per-square-foot basis in the borough. Situated over 720 feet above ground, the 440-square-foot apartment boasts soaring, unobstructed views of the city and way beyond. According to city records, the property fetched a little over $2,000 per square foot.

ODA-designed Crown Heights rental with 328 apartments secures $135M in financing

The Crown Heights rental development that drew the ire of residents for replacing an Associated Supermarket is moving forward. The Hudson Companies on Monday announced it closed on $135 million in financing for the mixed-use project at 975 Nostrand Avenue, a new nine-story development with 328 apartments. As part of a deal reached in 2021, a grocery store run by the same manager of the previous store will take up about 20,000 square feet at the new building.

Stretching nearly a block on Bergen Street in Boerum Hill, this new condo was designed to maximize natural sunlight. Rising seven stories between 3rd and 4th Avenues, just south of the Barclays Center, the residential project, dubbed Bergen, was designed by Mexico-based architecture studio Taller Frida Escobedo to complement the brownstone-filled neighborhood. New images and details of the development were released this week ahead of an upcoming spring sales launch.

In search of New York City’s best pint of Guinness

One of the most beloved exports of Ireland (besides Cillian Murphy), Guinness was born in Dublin over 200 years ago and made its way to the United States soon after. The dry stout draws a cultish following for its unique black color and creamy tan head. New York City does its best to match Ireland’s perfect pour with well over 100 Irish (and Irish-inspired) pubs across the five boroughs. But not all pints are created equal, as the team behind the Instagram account New York State of Pint has learned. Run by a group of "Irish guys on a mission to find the best Guinness New York has to offer," the account is rating pints across the city in a March Madness-inspired contest.

The Lincoln Center for Performing Arts (LCPA) on Monday announced a design team made up of Hood Design Studio, Weiss/Manfredi, and Moody Nolan will reimagine the Amsterdam Avenue-facing side, starting with turning Damrosch Park into a state-of-the-art outdoor "performance park."

Built in the mid-1870s, the red brick home at 324 State Street in Boerum Hill features a facade of original Italianate and Greek Revival elements so striking that the building was designated as a city landmark. The Dublin-born designer, better known as Daryl K, became a fixture of the lower Manhattan fashion scene during the 90s, designing clothes for musicians and artists and costumes for movies like “My Cousin Vinny.”

Stunning nine-story atrium at The Beekman Hotel is up for landmark status

Once part of New York City architectural lore, the nine-story Victorian atrium at The Beekman Hotel may soon be formally recognized. The Landmarks Preservation Commission on Tuesday voted to calendar the central atrium of 5 Beekman Street for consideration as an interior landmark. Built as part of the 19th-century commercial building Temple Court, the space consists of eight tiers of galleries topped by a cast-iron pyramid-shaped skylight. For decades, the atrium was walled in and off-limits to the public, until work began in 2014 to restore and transform the historic building into a hotel. Now a decade after the project began, the stunning atrium, restored to its former glory and the centerpiece of the luxury Beekman Hotel, is up for landmark status.

Lottery opens for 131 units at shoreside Staten Island rental, from $1,790/month

In a Staten Island neighborhood gearing up for development, this new 100 percent affordable building is leading the way. The Pearl, located at 475 Bay Street in Stapleton, is a 12-story tower with 270 apartments, about half of which are affordable to households earning at or below 80 percent of the area median income. The project is one of the first developments to be built under the recent Bay Street Corridor rezoning. A housing lottery opened last week for 131 apartments; qualifying New Yorkers can apply for the units, priced between $1,790/month for studios and $2,481/month for three bedrooms.
