It’s Storage Galore at This Noho Duplex Renovation by Raad Studio

A challenge that every New York apartment dweller will face eventually is one of storage. This is a city of cozy, compact spaces, and although many of us are lacking the luxury of basements, walk-in closets, garages, etc., we usually make up for it in unique ways. (Hello, lofted apartment!) Raad studio creatively took up the challenge at a duplex in Noho, where storage is so prevalent and seamlessly integrated into the design, it demands a standing ovation from storage-starved New Yorkers everywhere.

$2.6M Mediterranean-Style Mansion Is Up for Sale in Riverdale

The Bronx enclave of Riverdale is chock full of striking freestanding mansions of different architectural styles. This one at 4501 Delafield Avenue is in the Mediterranean Revival style, designed by the architect A. E. Klueppelberg in 1910. Indeed, this facade looks like something you'd sooner find in Europe than New York City. It's uniqueness is paired with a gut renovation inside that's completely modernized the home. It's now on the market for $2.59 million, quite the price boost from when the property sold in 2013 for $1.336 million.

Oftentimes renting in Brooklyn means cramming into a modest apartment with roommates or building out a loft bed in a former warehouse space. You don't typically think of sharing a massive three-story townhouse. But this historic home at 851 Park Place in Crown Heights is now on the rental market for $11,000 a month. Brand New Photos for Bay Ridge’s Gingerbread House, Now Back on the Market for $11M

Bay Ridge's infamous Gingerbread House at 8220 Narrows Avenue is making headlines again. The incredible freestanding home is back on the market after a few different attempts to sell. As Curbed pointed out, the Arts and Crafts home was first asking $12 million in 2009, then the price was lowered a few times, then it was put on the rental market for $26,000 a month. (The broker tells us that it's only officially been on the market for around two years over a six-year period while the owners did renovations.) Now it's back again with brand new photos showing off its extravagant interior, alongside a price tag of $10.999 million. As the broker told us, "The overall market in Brooklyn is strong, particularly in Bay Ridge, which has become the new hot spot as buyers move south - this is an ideal time to put the house back on the market." We got our hands on the previously-unpublished new images, so take a look and decide if this is finally the time this special house will sell.

Way out in Douglaston, Queens, you'll find some of the most impressive freestanding houses of New York City. The quiet waterfront neighborhood is known for its historic and sprawling Colonial homes set on large, green lots. Earlier this year, this beauty–which we thought looked like something straight out of "The Great Gatsby"—hit the market for $2.7 million. INTERVIEW: Historian Francis Morrone on the Changing City, Modern Architecture and Why He Loves the ’50s

For the man who knows seemingly everything about New York City history, look no further than Francis Morrone. Francis is an architectural historian best known for his writings and walking tours of New York. Of his 11 books, he wrote the actual guidebook to New York City architecture—aptly titled "The Architectural Guidebook to New York City"—as well as the "Guide to New York City Urban Landscapes," "An Architectural Guidebook to Brooklyn," and "10 Architectural Walks In Manhattan." For six and a half years, Francis served as an art and architecture critic for the New York Sun, and he now teaches architectural and urban history at the New York University School of Professional Studies. As for walking tours, Francis was named by Travel + Leisure magazine as one of the 13 best tour guides in the world. You can catch his various tours, which sell out quickly and cover everything from "Midtown Manhattan's Side Streets" to the "Architecture and Changing Lifestyles in Greenwich Village," through the Municipal Art Society. We caught up with Francis recently after he published a much buzzed-about article for the Daily News entitled, "No, New York City Is Not Losing Its Soul," to talk about his life and work in the city, his opinions on modern architecture and development, and his favorite time period of New York City history.

How much would you pay for a completely rundown townhouse in the heart of the Fort Greene Historic District? This Tribeca loft, located at 90 Hudson Street, may be a one-bedroom unit but it's still huge. That means plenty of space for cool furniture and decor, which the current owner has definitely taken advantage of. The seller, Marika Wagle, manages merchandising and buying for designer fashion brands in New York City and also sells home decor, jewelry and clothing from her travels through India, Morocco, Turkey and Africa. Former Tribeca Hotel Could Be Transformed into a Grand Single-Family Home

This five-story brick townhouse, located at 142 Watts Street in Tribeca, is rather unique. Constructed in 1886, the building has served as a tenement building, a hotel, and apartments. (There was also a diner on the ground floor in the 1940s.) It was last purchased 30 years ago by the Capsouto brothers, longtime investors and restaurateurs in the neighborhood. 35 years ago the brothers opened a restaurant at 451 Washington Street called Capsouto Freres, a mainstay eatery that shuttered after damage caused by Hurricane Sandy. Now it looks like the brothers have decided to get rid of some of their real estate in the neighborhood, listing 142 Watts Street for $12.25 million.

‘Contemporary Panache’ Goes on Display at This Riverside Drive Renovation by Raad Studio

The design firm raad studio is no stranger to bold interiors that push the envelope—the firm designed an inhabitable blob for this Gowanus townhouse, and a stunning wooden ceiling dome for an apartment in the former police headquarters at 240 Centre Street. For this project at 440 Riverside Drive, they took an approach that "boldly marries prewar details and contemporary design," according to raad studio founder James Ramsey. Former Tribeca Mansion Now Holds Spectacular Triplex Penthouse Asking $85,000 a Month

144 Duane Street in Tribeca has an interesting history behind it. The 150-year-old limestone building was originally used as a shoe factory and was later transformed into an insane single-family mansion. The 23,000-square-foot home was outfitted with a basketball court in the basement, a landscaped roof deck, and a crazy glass staircase. It hit the market in 2011, asking $45 million, and when a buyer never turned up it hit the rental market, asking $100,000 a month. It eventually sold in 2013 for $43 million, according to public records. The owner then converted the mansion into four rental apartments asking between $12,500 and $85,000 a month. Are you keeping track? This unit, a triplex penthouse, is the one asking $85,000, and it's just as insane as you'd expect it to be, with a massive 10,829-square-foot footprint, five bedrooms, and a crystal-like glass topper.
