With opening of final tower, Jersey City’s Journal Squared development is complete

The final tower of Jersey City's massive three-building complex Journal Squared opened last week, marking the completion of the transformative development. City officials joined Kushner Real Estate (KRE) Group and National Real Estate Advisors to celebrate the opening of the 60-story tower at 615 Pavonia Avenue; the two other high-rise rentals have already opened. The $900 million, 2.3 million-square-foot Journal Squared development first broke ground in 2014 and includes more than 1,800 luxury apartments.

A housing lottery launched this week for 196 affordable apartments in a new rental building on the Lower East Side. Located at 165 Broome Street, the 15-story building offers tenants new residences in one of New York City's trendiest neighborhoods. Leasing launches at Roosevelt Island luxury rental, from $3,085/month

A brand new luxury rental building on Roosevelt Island launched leasing this week. Designed by Handel Architects, Riverwalk Heights is the ninth and final building in the planned community of Riverwalk. The tower, located at 430 Main Street, features interiors by Studio DB and waterfront landscape design by Future Green. Apartments range from $3,085/month for studios to just over $6,850/month for two bedrooms.

A 100% affordable rental opens in Greenpoint

A fully affordable apartment building officially opened in Greenpoint this week, bringing income-restricted homes to one of Brooklyn's most expensive neighborhoods. City officials on Wednesday cut the ribbon at 35 Commercial Street, a 22-story tower with 374 affordable apartments, including 57 units for formerly homeless New Yorkers. The building is the 11th completed building in Greenpoint Landing, a 22-acre development with 5,500 new homes and five acres of public open space.

Leasing launches at Queens’ second tallest tower, with rentals priced from $2,950/month

Leasing officially kicked off this week at the second tallest building in Queens, a 71-story rental in Long Island City. Located at 27-29 Queens Plaza North, the building, dubbed Sven, has 958 apartments, with a mix of studios to three-bedroom units priced from $2,950/month. Originally expected to become the borough's tallest building when plans were announced, the tower was surpassed by the Skyline Tower in 2019. 600-unit final tower of Journal Squared complex breaks ground in Jersey City

The final tower of a massive three-building luxury complex in Journal Square broke ground this week, which will eventually add hundreds of apartments to Jersey City's burgeoning residential neighborhood. Dubbed Journal Squared, the development at the intersection of Pavonia and Summit Avenues includes three high-rise rentals, two of which have already opened. This week local officials joined Kushner Real Estate (KRE) Group and National Real Estate Advisors to celebrate the completed leasing of the 704-unit second phase tower and break ground on the third and last tower, a 60-story structure with 600 residences.

See the 1,100-unit Gotham Point towers coming to the Long Island City waterfront

A massive development with over 1,000 units of housing is coming to Long Island City's Hunter's Point South neighborhood. Developed by the Gotham Organization and RiseBoro Community Partnership, Gotham Point includes two towers and a total of 1,132 residences, 75 percent of which are affordable. The project is part of a broader plan first announced in 2013 by former Mayor Michael Bloomberg to redevelop nine parcels of land in Hunter's Point South and bring 5,000 new apartments to the neighborhood. As the first tower nears completion, 6sqft got an exclusive look at Gotham Point, the latest residential project to rise on the Queens waterfront.

Luxury senior living tower on the Upper East Side offers a sky lounge, fine dining, and more

Maplewood Senior Living is known for its upscale senior living residences, but its newest brand, Inspīr, was designed specifically for urban markets. The brand’s flagship senior living residence, Inspīr Carnegie Hill, is located on the Upper East Side at 1802 Second Avenue at 93rd Street. It recently opened, offering residents the "Ultimate New York City Experience," which includes partnerships with local cultural institutions and wellness providers, as well as with the geriatrics program at Mt. 16 middle-income apartments up for grabs at luxury rental near Grand Central, from $1,949/month

Twenty percent of the 429 apartments at 222 East 44th Street is reserved as affordable housing. Two-and-a-half years ago, a lottery opened for 109 units for those earning 40, 60, and 130 percent of the area median income, and it looks like some of those on the higher end of the spectrum are newly available, as another lottery is open for 16 middle-income units. The glass tower in Midtown East was designed by Handel Architects and is a quick walk to Grand Central, the UN, and Midtown. Plus, it's got a ton of great amenities.

Leasing launched on Wednesday for 142 apartments at the Lower East Side's Essex Crossing development. The Artisan, located at 180 Broome Street, is the largest building at the nine-site project and contains office and retail space, as well as access to the ground-floor Market Line. Pricing starts at $3,000/month for studios, $4,000/month for one-bedrooms,$6,000/month for two-bedrooms, and $8,000 for three-bedrooms.

Leasing launches for Greenpoint Landing’s 40-story second tower

The second tower at Greenpoint Landing, the master plan transforming 22 acres of the north Brooklyn neighborhood, has officially opened. Designed by Handel Architects, Two Blue Slip rises 40 stories and contains 421 rental units, with 30 percent of them income-restricted. While pricing has not been released yet, the neighboring building One Blue Slip, which opened in August 2018, most recently listed a three-bedroom unit for $7,892/month, according to CityRealty.

Announcing 6sqft’s 2019 Building of the Year!

The votes have been tallied, and it’s time to name the 2019 Building of the Year! The winning title belongs to none other than Nomad's Madison House at 15 East 30th Street. The 62-story tower beat out 11 other significant NYC buildings, taking first place with 1,284 votes, 34% of the 3,823 total votes cast. Not only is the building the tallest in Nomad at 805 feet, but its sleek design from Handel Architects was done in a unique decagon shape that allows all of the 199 apartments to have column-free corners. New renderings show 72,600-square-foot public park coming to Brooklyn’s Pacific Park development

Developer TF Cornerstone this week released new renderings for two sites within Brooklyn's long-delayed Pacific Park development that have yet to break ground: 615 and 595 Dean Street. Their plans will bring 72,600 square feet of public open space with community amenities, 800 units of mixed-income housing, and retail to Pacific Park. In addition, Chelsea Piers is set to open a Field House that will offer a wide range of family and youth-focused programming when the site opens in 2023.

Eliot Spitzer and Related’s joint Hudson Yards project includes 126 units of senior housing

A joint project from Related Companies and Eliot Spitzer would bring over 100 units of senior housing near Hudson Yards, the Real Deal reported on Wednesday. According to permits filed with the city last week, the 44-story mixed-use tower at 451 10th Avenue will include 126 "long-term care facility dwelling units."

Renderings reveal Madison Place, new 800-foot condo tower in Nomad

The anticipated 805-foot condo tower currently rising in Nomad at 15 East 30th Street—dubbed Madison House—has just unveiled a teaser website and new renderings to give us a peek of the project, inside and out. The 62-story building was designed by Handel Architects, and Gachot Studios will be helming the interior design. Rental tower at Essex Crossing’s new foodie mecca launches leasing from $3,750/month

Leasing has officially launched at The Essex at 125 Delancey Street, the newest rental residence at the Lower East Side's Essex Crossing. Delancey Street Associates (DSA), the project's developers, announced the official launch of the building's 98 units today along with new renderings of interiors and amenity spaces within the tallest tower at the nine-site development. The 26-story Essex, designed by Handel Architects, also launched its website, which shows even more detail on the available units, which range from studios to three-bedrooms, starting at $3,750.
