Brooklyn ‘eco triplex’ with natural swimming pool and green roof renting for $1,400/night
This Carroll Gardens townhouse may be the only one in Brooklyn that lays claim to a “natural” swimming pool in its backyard. It was renovated with eco-friendly features in mind and you can experience it yourself through Airbnb for $1,395 a night. Three floors overlook ecologically landscaped gardens and water features that include a natural pond with native fish and turtles. Atop the house is a green roof with its own pergola. And inside, the home is decked out with antique wood floors, clay walls, and large sunny rooms with views of the surrounding greenery.
The 1,800-square-foot space holds different common living areas with a total of three couches. Off the main living room–decorated with exposed brick and wood ceiling beams–is an open kitchen.
Skylights–added along the home’s 100-year-old central staircase–ensure that light streams through. In the summer, the house stays cool by the help of solar design. In the winter, it’s heated with radiant floors.
From the kitchen there’s a back porch and staircase down to the natural pool, which is chemical free and totally swimmable. We just can’t believe this exists in the backyard of a Brooklyn townhouse!
Another smaller natural pond holds fish and turtles.
Back inside, here’s a look at some of the five bedrooms. There are three bathrooms, some of which also boast quite the eco-friendly design. The house has a steam shower, there’s also a wood soaking tub on the top floor.
Finally, up to the green roof deck, which boasts 360 degree views of the city. A pergola provides shade and protects a vegetable garden. This home, simply put, is eco-friendly to the extreme.
