Printemps opens in NYC, bringing French flair and fashion to Wall Street

Parisian retailer Printemps opened its first United States concept in New York City this week. The 160-year-old French store has taken over two floors of One Wall Street, a 50-story Art Deco tower in the Financial District that is now home to over 500 luxury apartments. Designed by architect Laura Gonzalez, the 55,000-square-foot concept is made to feel like a whimsical interpretation of a Parisian apartment, with five food and beverage experiences, beauty and treatment rooms, clothing repair, and more, bringing together retail, dining, hospitality, and culture under one roof.

Huge cultural hub with galleries, performance spaces, new library opens in Fort Greene

Some of Brooklyn's most influential arts and cultural institutions have a new home in the heart of Fort Greene. L10 Arts and Cultural Center officially opened last week, bringing a 65,000-square-foot facility with gallery and performance spaces for the Museum of Contemporary African Diaspora Arts (MoCADA), cinemas for the Brooklyn Academy of Music (BAM), rehearsal studios and performance space for 651 Arts, and a new Brooklyn Public Library branch to 10 Lafayette Street. The center sits within the mixed-use tower 300 Ashland Place, which opened in 2017.

Primark opening first Manhattan store in Herald Square

Primark, the international clothing retailer known for its affordable prices, is opening its first store in Manhattan. The company announced on Tuesday plans to open a flagship location in Herald Square at 150 West 34th Street, between 7th Avenue and Broadway and across from the iconic Macy's store and Penn Station. The new storefront will replace an Old Navy store that has been there since 1999.

Skylift opens at Rockefeller Center: Top of the Rock ride offers new panoramic perspective

Rockefeller Center opened its new rooftop ride this week, adding another attraction to the Top of the Rock observation deck. From the 70th floor of 30 Rock, Skylift brings visitors up an additional three stories on a revolving open-air platform for a front-row view of the New York City skyline. Floating above the rooftop, the glass platform offers a unique 360-degree perspective of the city at 900 feet above street level.

Interview: Famous photojournalist Steve McCurry on authenticity, truth, and trust in today’s world

As the spring arts season awakens, an exhibition of note will be ending its run at the Cavalier Galleries in Chelsea: Now through March 30, take the opportunity to experience work by American photojournalist Steve McCurry. As one of our most celebrated contemporary photographers, McCurry is best known for his unforgettable portrait of 12-year-old Afghan refugee Sharbat Gula, the "Afghan Girl" who gazed from the cover of National Geographic magazine in 1985. The current solo exhibition marks the release of McCurry’s new book, "Devotion: Love and Spirituality" (Prestel, 2024). The show features over 30 photos that span more than four decades, captured during McCurry's visits to Cuba, Ethiopia, India, Myanmar, Pakistan, the Philippines, and Tibet. The images are both timeless and current, featuring human struggles and daily lives.

NYC’s Gramercy Park Hotel to reopen with rooftop bar and Danny Meyer restaurant

After closing during the pandemic, Manhattan's famed Gramercy Park Hotel will reopen under new ownership, the Wall Street Journal reported. MCR Hotels, the nation's third-largest hotel owner and operator, has purchased a 99-year lease to the hotel, located directly across from the exclusive Gramercy Park, for roughly $50 million and expects to reopen the property as one of the city's most luxurious hotels in 2025 following renovations. Plans include upgrades to the lobby, the 197 guest rooms, the first-floor restaurant (Danny Meyer's Maialino), and the 7,000-square-foot rooftop bar.
