If you’re like so many city residents looking for an upstate getaway these days, this incredible 25-acre property in Shawangunk, New York might definitely check a lot of your boxes. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, the Catskills residence is asking just $2,025,000 (the price of a pretty average NYC condo) and that includes a beautiful 1835 Greek Revival farmhouse, as well as a new log house built from salvaged, antique 1850s barns. All of this is surrounded by landscaped lawns and outdoor event spaces.
As the listing says, the property would be “perfect as an AirBnB, corporate retreat, weddings, and other private events.” Known as the Bruyn Estate, it is owned by Colan and Cristy Lee McGeehan; Cristy is a designer who’s been featured on the Discovery Channel, HGTV, and more.
According to Mansion Global, when the couple bought the property in December 2013, “they immediately began refurbishing the farmhouse, which had not been occupied full-time for more than 45 years.”
All of the interiors were personally designed by Cristy Lee, who infused her eclectic tastes while maintaining the historic, rustic feel of the home. The farmhouse is roughly 2,700 square feet and has three bedrooms, two full bathrooms, and two half baths.
The basement is currently configured as an entertainment space, complete with a karaoke lounge, wine cellar, and a home gym with high-end equipment.
Once the couple had finished renovating the farmhouse, they decided to construct a new “old” log home as a place to host their family and friends for large gatherings.
Cristy Lee worked with an architect, who constructed the secondary home from materials salvaged from 1850s barns. This home has five bedrooms and five bathrooms.
On the grounds, you’ll find a fire pit, a hot tub, and a fully-wired bandshell. The adjacent woods have trails for strolling, hiking, and bird watching.
