Janet Jackson has decided to part ways with her Upper West Side apartment, which she recently listed for $8,995,000, as the Wall Street Journal first reported. The younger Jackson sibling has owned the three-bedroom condo in the Trump International Hotel and Tower at 1 Central Park West for almost 25 years; she purchased the 34th-floor unit in the gleaming tower overlooking Central Park for $2.8 million in 1998.
Mesmerizing park vistas and Manhattan skyline views are the backdrops for this diva-worthy corner apartment. The experience begins with an entry gallery that opens into the home’s combined living and dining space.
Full walls of windows yield panoramic views framed by 10-foot ceilings and wood floors. Modern comforts like central air conditioning and a security system, plus plenty of configuration options and lots of storage add more reasons to covet this sophisticated aerie.
A spokesperson for Jackson told the WSJ the pop star had not been in the apartment since before the pandemic.
“Whenever entering my apartment of 25 years, I always treasured my home’s wonderful location and the breathtaking views that capture the magic and excitement of New York,” Jackson said in a statement to the newspaper. “Stepping through its threshold instantly made me feel so tranquil and at peace—so many memories.”
A sleek, open kitchen has two entrances, making it perfect for effortless entertaining. One of the bedrooms is currently in use as a dramatic library, with lacquer-red walls and built-in custom millwork.
The primary bedroom suite, situated on one side of the apartment for ultimate privacy, has a jumbo walk-in closet and a marble bath–and you can watch the sunrise over the park from here. The remaining bedroom is an ideal guest room with an en-suite bath.
The west side condominium tower exemplifies Manhattan living, offering full-time doorman and concierge services from an elegant lobby. Amenities include a state-of-the-art gym, a pool and spa, housekeeping, valet, parking, and a business center. For foodies, the best perk of all may be having Jean-Georges restaurant just off the lobby of the building’s hotel–with 24-hour room service for residents.
