Live on top of the American Copper Buildings’ eye-catching sky bridge for $12K/month

One of the city’s most architecturally significant projects to rise in recent years are the two copper-clad towers at 626 First Avenue in Murray Hill known as the American Copper Buildings. Designed by SHoP Architects and developed by JDS, the twisted towers boast a rare and distinctive feature: an amenity-filled sky bridge linking the two buildings more than 300 feet in the air. According to JDS, the three-story steel truss structure is Manhattan’s first new sky bridge in 80 years. There are only a handful of residences that boast private outdoor space right on the eye-catching sky bridge—and one of them is now on the rental market seeking $12,000 per month.

The residence is a corner unit with two bedrooms, two bathrooms, and plenty of panoramic views. Floor-to-ceiling glass windows, hardwood floors, high ceilings, and luxurious finishes feature throughout. The kitchen boasts custom wood cabinets and marble on the island, countertops, and backsplash.

There’s a stunning private terrace overlooking the East River, with plantings along the perimeter and room for several seating arrangements.

We don’t often say this but the bathrooms in this apartment really stand out. The master bath features a book-matched crocodile marble shower wall, a double vanity with black matte fixtures, and custom light fixtures with brass details.

The modern pad is of course up to date on all the latest smart home technologies and includes a Nest system, key fob entry, and an in-unit washer and dryer.

You won’t have to go far to access the building’s amazing list of amenities, which spans over 60,000 square feet in the sky bridge right below the unit. Residents can enjoy one of two swimming pools (there’s an infinity pool on the roof and a 75-foot lap pool in the sky bridge), a two-floor fitness center—including a climbing wall—a juice bar, a lounge, playroom, and more.
