Newly unveiled interiors mark completion of slender supertall 111 West 57th Street

The second-tallest residential tower in the Western Hemisphere is officially complete. Last week, JDS Development Group and Property Markets Group unveiled the interiors of 111 West 57th Street, a 1,428-foot-tall building on Billionaires' Row designed by SHoP Architects. New photos show off the tower's interior architecture, including the residences and amenity spaces, all designed by William Sofield's Studio Sofield.

After New York City's construction and real estate industries ground to a halt last year because of the pandemic, 2021 saw a flurry of activity, thanks to the arrival of the coronavirus vaccine and federal funding for states and cities. $57M penthouse at 111 West 57th Street joins list of NYC’s priciest pandemic sales

A penthouse apartment at the supertall 111 West 57th Street has sold for over $50 million, making it one of the priciest real estate deals in the city since the coronavirus pandemic struck this spring. Duplex Penthouse 75 sold "for around the list price" of $57 million, according to a spokesperson for the Billionaires' Row development. The two-level apartment has four bedrooms, five and a half baths, and boasts 14-foot ceilings and incredible views of Central Park.

$66M triplex penthouse at 111 West 57th Street sits 900 feet above Central Park

Two new impressive units just hit the market at New York City's most slender supertall. At 111 West 57th Street, a three-level, four-bedroom penthouse with over 7,000 square feet of interior space and an additional 1,367 square feet in private outdoor space with picture-perfect views over Central Park has hit the market for $66 million. And a duplex with three bedrooms and unobstructed park views is now asking $39.5 million. The latest multi-million dollar listings at the Billionaires' Row tower come after two $30 million units sold earlier this summer during the coronavirus shut down, giving a boost to the city's nearly stagnant luxury market.

See more of the historic residences inside 111 West 57th Street’s landmarked Steinway Building

Two more listings inside Midtown’s historic Steinway Hall have just hit the market: a two-bedroom with a private terrace for $8,750,000 and a four-bedroom duplex seeking $17,995,000. The landmarked building at 111 West 57th Street was designed by renowned firm Warren & Wetmore and finished in 1925. The longtime home of the Steinway & Sons piano company was acquired by developers JDS Development, Property Markets Group, and Spruce Capital Partners in 2013 for $217.5 million and has since become incorporated into SHoP Architects’ super-slender supertall tower rising next to it. The Beaux-Arts structure serves as the project’s grand entryway and will hold the amenity spaces and a small handful of residences designed by Studio Sofield. Originally built in 1925, the Beaux-Arts building will house the lobby for the luxury tower and a small number of apartments, including this 5,200+ square-foot duplex penthouse that just listed for $21 million.

New images of SHoP’s skinny supertall at 111 West 57th Street show facade progress

Even before reaching its final height of 1,428 feet tall, SHoP Architect’s Midtown supertall 111 West 57th Street, which surpassed 1,000 feet a few months ago, wowed us with views from the tower’s 64th, 72nd, and 73rd floors. Upon completion, the Billionaires’ Row tower will become the tallest residential building in the world, taking the title from 1,396-foot 432 Park Avenue, (until 1,500-foot Central Park Tower tops out). With a super slender frame (a ratio of 1:24), 111 West 57th Street is also set to become one of the skinniest skyscraper in the world. The new year brings new progress–and new photos showing the 86-story tower's intricate terra cotta and bronze facade making its way skyward.

Listings go live at the world’s skinniest skyscraper, 111 West 57th Street

The race to build the tallest residential building in the world has long been underway along Billionaires' Row, but 111 West 57th Street not only boasts height (at 1,428 feet it'll surpass the current record holder, 1,396-foot 432 Park Avenue until the 1,500-foot Central Park Tower tops out) but a frame that is so slender (a ratio of 1:24) it garners it the title of skinniest skyscraper in the world. And after six years watching the development unfold, listings have finally gone live for the 46-unit condo, first spotted by Curbed. The first batch includes seven units, six of which are three-bedrooms ranging from $18 to $30 million, along with a $56 million penthouse.
