Michael Chow, founder of the Mr. Chow restaurant chain, has just put his Dumbo penthouse on the market for $6,495,000. It seems the restaurateur is moving to the West Coast, as earlier this month Chow and his wife bought two Los Angeles properties from pop star Katy Perry, as Mansion Global reported. Chow bought his three-bedroom duplex at 1 John Street in 2016 for $5,760,000. The modern abode spans across 2,600 square-feet and is one of four homes in the 42-unit building to have a private courtyard and a private roof terrace. You’ll be able to enjoy the views from inside as well since every room overlooks the river and Manhattan skyline.
The entrance is on the 12th floor, where an entry foyer leads you into a 26-foot, open living and dining area. The bright room boasts six windows with views of the Manhattan skyline. The unit has 10-foot ceilings and white oak flooring throughout.
The modern kitchen features oak cabinetry, a stone counter island, and a suite of top-of-the-line appliances from Gaggenau, Sub Zero and Bosch. You’ll also find a powder room and large storage closet on this level.
A glass-enclosed courtyard takes you up to the private roof terrace, which comes complete with a built-in gas grill and views galore. Together, the courtyard and terrace add 750 square feet of outdoor space.
All of the bedrooms are on the 11th floor. Two smaller bedrooms and a master suite all enjoy Manhattan views, en-suite bathrooms, and roomy closets. The master suite is on the south corner and features a walk-in closet, dressing area, and a bathroom featuring hand-chipped stone mosaic tiles and a deep soaking tub surrounded by a custom cedar wall.
A laundry room, central air conditioning, and motorized window shades on every window add convenience to the residence.
Building amenities include a fitness center, furnished roof deck, laundry room, and full-service doormen.
