Netflix director asks $800K for his crafty Soho pad
German film writer and director Tom Tykwer, known for his work on Netflix’s Sense8 and Run Lola Run, is selling his lovely one-bedroom apartment in Soho for $800,000. Located at 105 Thompson Street, the co-op sits on the fifth floor of a pre-war building and successfully mixes old-school charm with modern upgrades.
The unit has envy-worthy design elements, like white-washed brick, hardwood flooring, and crafty millwork. Tykwer has since relocated to Berlin with his family for work but remembers his time at the apartment fondly.
“I purchased this one-bedroom when I was working a lot in New York City and needed a space to write and reflect,” he said. “It’s a very special apartment for me–it has inspired calm energy, even though it is located in the middle of Soho.”
The simple but elegant kitchen has been recently renovated and includes white Carrara marble counters, subway tile backsplash, and new appliances.
The exposed brick, hardwood floors, and millwork continue into the bedroom and ensuite bath. The space comes with substantial closet and storage space.
Located between Spring and Prince Street, the building is close to endless options for entertainment, shopping, and recreation. The Vesuvio Playground, which also has a swimming pool, is next door and the C, E train a short walk away.
