One-time Long Island mansion of former Filipino dictator Ferdinand Marcos hits the market for $4.9M

A sprawling 8.2-acre estate in Center Moriches once owned by the deceased Filipino President Ferdinand Marcos and his wife Imelda has hit the market for $4.99 million. The massive Long Island property, known as the Lindenmere Estate, at 16 Sedgemere Road features 14 bedrooms, 17-and-a-half baths, a glass-enclosed Pagoda pool house, and incredible views of the Moriches Bay. According to the New York Post, after a brokerage switch, the listing’s price dropped from $5.99 million last year.

The Lindenmere was first built in 1916 as a residence but has also been used as a hotel and a bed and breakfast. The Marcos bought the estate for an unknown amount in 1981. After the Philippine Government took the property over in 1987, it sat on the market for nine years. It was purchased in 1996 for $1.6 million by Jennie and Peter Marago, but they are not the current owners.

The Lidenmere Estate sits on over eight acres and features expansive bay views. The first-floor space includes multiple sitting areas and a fireplace. The oversized formal dining room that has floor-to-ceiling sliders which open to the bay. The large chef’s kitchen and four bedroom suites can be found on this floor.

The second floor boasts a double master suite and a central seating area. And even more bedrooms with incredible water views make up this level.

The picture-perfect mansion includes a wrap-around porch, a large heated pool, tennis courts and a second house for guests. Plus, the glass enclosed pagoda-style pool house with a bar radiates elegance. In total, the property spans 341,075 square feet.
