Projects that would protect vulnerable New York City neighborhoods from flooding and intense storms are at risk after President Donald Trump's administration announced plans to cut federal funding. The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) canceled more than $325 million in grants to New York State that would go toward critical infrastructure and community resilience projects, according to Gov. Kathy Hochul. A majority of the projects impacted are designed to help New York City prepare for weather disasters like flooding and extreme rainfall.

U.S. Department of Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy sent Gov. Kathy Hochul a letter rescinding the Federal Highway Administration's approval of the tolling program, which began charging drivers $9 to enter Manhattan below 60th Street on January 5. Early data released by the Metropolitan Transportation Authority following the toll's launch revealed less congestion and faster commute times. Shortly after Trump's announcement, the Metropolitan Transportation Authority filed a lawsuit to protect the program and Hochul, who said the move from the White House was an attack on the state's sovereignty, said the "cameras are staying on," referring to the toll cameras.

New York Attorney General Letitia James is looking to bar former President Donald Trump and his three adult children from acquiring real estate in New York for five years, a move that could deal a major blow to the family's business empire. In a civil lawsuit filed on Wednesday, James accused Trump and his business of engaging in years of deliberate financial fraud "to obtain a host of economic benefits." According to the Office of the Attorney General, Trump and the Trump Organization intentionally created more than 200 false and misleading valuations of assets in annual statements to defraud financial institutions from 2011 to 2021. The 214-page complaint comes after a three-year investigation into fraud across nearly two dozen Trump properties and assets.

The six-acre estate on the Greenwich, Connecticut, waterfront that was owned by former president Donald Trump and his late ex-wife Ivana in the 1980s is back on the market for $29.9 million, the Wall Street Journal reports. The home's present owners, investment banker Robert Steinberg and his wife Suzanne, bought it for $15 million in 1998. The Georgian mansion at 21 Vista Drive, with sweeping views of Long Island Sound, has been on and off the market since 2009 when the Steinbergs listed it for $50 million; it was relisted for $54 million in 2014. In January, just days after the insurrection at the U.S. Capitol, Mayor Bill de Blasio announced plans to terminate several agreements with former President Donald Trump's company, including the contract for Trump Golf Links at Ferry Point. As first reported by ABC News, the lawsuit argues the mayor had a "pre-existing, politically-based predisposition to terminate Trump-related contracts, and the city used the events of January 6, 2021 as a pretext to do so."
