José Andrés will open a restaurant lounge at LaGuardia Airport

To continue its transformation from third-world country to state-of-the-art airport, LaGuardia Airport is adding another dining experience sure to be welcomed by foodies. José Andrés will open a restaurant lounge at the Queens airport as part of a partnership with Capital One, Eater New York reported on Wednesday. Since 2016, the airport has been undergoing an $8 billion overhaul, which has included new terminals, improved passenger space, public art, and a slew of new dining options.

José Andrés opens romantic rooftop bar at the Ritz-Carlton in Nomad

José Andrés opened a new cocktail bar on the rooftop of The Ritz-Carlton New York, Nomad last week. Described as a "glittering jewel box," Nubeluz, (the name is a mash-up of the Spanish words "nube" for cloud and "luz" for light), sits 500 feet above Nomad, becoming a part of the skyline while also boasting 270-degree views of it.

See inside José Andrés’ Mediterranean restaurant Zaytinya, now open at NYC’s new Ritz-Carlton hotel

José Andrés’ ThinkFoodGroup on Tuesday opened Zaytinya, a new restaurant and hotel in-room dining option at The Ritz-Carlton New York, Nomad. The restaurant features a mezze menu inspired by Turkish, Greek, and Lebanese cuisines in a 140-seat street-level restaurant with a mod-meets Mediterranean interior design courtesy of David Rockwell's Rockwell Group. The Nomad location will be the second for Zaytinya, which first opened in 2002 in Washington, DC.

Chef José Andrés will open two new restaurants at the forthcoming Ritz-Carlton in Nomad

Renowned chef José Andrés is growing his presence in New York City with two new restaurants in The Ritz-Carlton hotel currently rising in Nomad. Andrés' ThinkFoodGroup has been tapped by developer Flag Luxury Group to oversee all food and beverage at the 250-room hotel which is slated to open in 2021. In addition to the two restaurants, the group will run a rooftop bar, lobby lounge, and in-room dining services. Andrés made his NYC debut in 2019 with the opening of Mercado Little Spain at Hudson Yards, a 35,000 square-foot food hall encompassing three restaurants, tapas kiosks, a Spanish goods market, and several bars.

The making of Hudson Yards’ Spanish market: Meet the team behind Mercado Little Spain

When New York Times food critic Pete Wells visited José Andrés' Mercado Little Spain, he declared that it had "more great food and drinks per square foot than anywhere else in New York." From Ibérico hams and Peking duck to the seemingly simple yet ever-pleasing pan con tomate, the food at Hudson Yards' Spanish market has certainly made its mark on the gastronomy scene. But what sets Andrés apart from other chefs and restauranteurs is his entire vision. Mercado Little Spain is designed as a series of "streets," with the various kiosks leading guests on a curated experience. Most of the design elements and materials were sourced from Spain, and the artists commissioned represent different regions of the country. To bring his vision to life, Andrés assembled a stellar team, including Michael Doneff, the Chief Marketing Officer at his ThinkFoodGroup; Juli Capella, co-founder of Spanish architecture and design firm Capella Garcia Architecture; and NYC-based design studio (and NYC food hall experts) ICRAVE. Hudson Yards releases new details about restaurant and food options

Another day, another round of news leading up to Hudson Yards' March 15th opening date. This time, developer Related Companies is whetting our appetites with details about its dining collection. We knew the basics--celebrity chef José Andrés will operate a Spanish food hall and there will be outposts of already-popular spots like Estiatorio Milos, Momofuku, and Bouchon Bakery--but we're now getting the official restaurant names and more details on their concepts. There are also a slew of new names joining the ranks, like sweets from William Greenberg Desserts, Li-Lac Chocolate, and Dylan’s Candy Bar and some more local favorites including Citarella, Blue Bottle Coffee, Bluestone Lane, and Van Leeuwen ice cream.

New renderings of Hudson Yards’ retail and restaurant spaces

Yesterday, it was announced that celebrity chef José Andrés, credited with bringing the small-plate concept to the U.S., will be opening a massive Spanish food hall at Hudson Yards, closing a deal for the 35,000-square-foot space at 10 Hudson Yards that Shake Shack guru Danny Meyer had previously been in talks for. On the heels of the news, developers Related Companies and Oxford Properties Group released new renderings of the retail and restaurant spaces coming to the mega-development (h/t Curbed), most of which will be located in the "Shops and Restaurants at Hudson Yards," a seven-story building that will hold the majority of the 25 restaurants and anchor tenant Neiman Marcus.
