With massive skylights and a private rooftop garden, this $5.75M Soho loft is like a greenhouse with benefits

It doesn't get much more Soho than this rare (in this century) live/work-legal penthouse at 35 Wooster Street, in one of the neighborhood's most iconic buildings–not least of all due to the fact that the popular art institution and gallery The Drawing Center anchors the building as the street-level tenant on landmarked Wooster Street. This beautifully-preserved pre-war cast-iron three-bedroom loft has the typical open layout, tons of detail and character (including high ceilings, a fireplace and amazing skylights), and plenty of light.

$12.8M massive, mod Flatiron pad is like having your own private design showroom

Even with a dizzying ask of $12.8 million, you know you're headed for off-the-charts territory when a 4,200-square-foot, three+ bedroom apartment starts with a sunken foyer that opens into an 800-square-foot sunken living room. And if you're thinking that's bigger than lots of people's entire apartment, consider the fact that there are many rooms like it in this full-floor home in the Photo Arts Building at 5 East 16th Street. And you haven't even seen the atrium wall yet.

This $2.6M Flatiron loft is creative, crafty and colorful as a wildflower garden

Think of this loft co-op in a former garter factory at 32 West 20th Street as one big, soft, colorful tote bag–the kind your favorite third grade art teacher would pack to the brim every day–there are pockets for stuff, sure–in this case a bedroom and a bath and a half–but really it's a big, open space with room for floaty scarves, bright skeins of yarn, beads and baubles, paints and brushes. At 2,000 square feet there's plenty to work with when it comes to carving out just the kind of space you need.

At 2,330 square feet with four bedrooms, closets galore and an enormous great room, there's more than enough space for family, friends and guests. High-floor views go all the way down to One World Trade, and high ceilings accentuate the brightness in every room–and then there are the sunsets. This two-convertible-to-three-bedroom condominium at 58 Walker Street has all the credibility it needs as an authentic Tribeca loft, but wood-paneled walls, a marble-mantled fireplace and super-luxe details assure there won't be any need to sacrifice grown-up elegance. 13-foot ceilings, massive loft windows and exposed brick walls within a cast iron loft building frame a 1,927 square-foot home whose interiors were created by the design team of kureck/jones. Elton John’s former Soho loft, complete with hidden cat tunnel, gets a price chop to $16M

When this enormous Soho loft at 50 Wooster Street hit the market for $23.3 million last December, 6sqft ogled its sleek renovation, complete with a motorized headboard, twin beds that slide together to form a king, copper tub, color-changing walls, and a secret cat tunnel that goes from the kitchen to the litter box in the pantry. But this wasn't enough to entice a buyer, as it's now gotten a pretty major price chop down to $15.95 million. If saving $7 million doesn't do the trick, though, LL NYC has uncovered that the 4,800-square-foot pad once belonged to none other than Sir Elton John. He sold the loft in 2010 for $7.45 million to its current owner, art consultant Sara Tecchia, who enlisted Jeff Goldberger at Urban Edition Architecture to complete the uber-contemporary and tech-forward renovation.

The couple now live in a townhouse nearby at 335 West 11th Street, which they bought in 2003 for $3.5 million and subsequently renovated to the nines, but their original downtown abode is back on the market, this time asking $4.3 million, according to the Observer.

Alexander Wang’s swanky-meets-moody Tribeca Loft finds a buyer for $3.5M

In 2010, fashion designer Alexander Wang bought his Tribeca loft at 39 Worth Street for $2 million from former New York Times Style writer Holly Brubach. He then undertook a gut renovation with decorator Ryan Korban that resulted in an "industrial chic" space that embodies his love of black and his line's signature minimalist, urban vibes, as seen through details like a furry furniture, zebra rugs, leather pillows, and mirrored wall panels. Wang listed the 2,550-square-foot home for $3.75 million in May, and the Observer now reports that it's gone into contract for $3.5 million.

Bankrupt Gawker founder Nick Denton lists Soho loft for $4.25M after judge denies rental attempt

After the infamous $140 million Hulk Hogan lawsuit, Gawker founder Nick Denton owes $1.73 million on the mortgage of his Soho loft with a monthly payment of $14,985, according to court filings uncovered by the Wall Street Journal. Just as Univision took over his former company in August, he tried to rent the pad at 76 Crosby Street, but a bankruptcy judge denied the transaction. He's now listed his home for $4.25 million, which would certainly make a dent in the $10 million that he owes as part of the invasion of privacy judgment.

Designed by Annabelle Selldorf, with interiors by Jeffrey Beers, this remarkable duplex spans a full 7,000 square feet, split between two levels with a soaring 29-foot-high living space at the center. Bethenny Frankel sells $7M Tribeca loft in just one day

Being a reality TV star and having a broker who's one as well certainly didn't hurt Bethenny Frankel's odds of selling her luxe Tribeca loft. In fact, the Wall Street Journal reports that "Million Dollar Listing" agent Frederik Eklund sold the condo in just one day for its asking price of $6.95 million. As 6sqft noted last week when the loft at 195 Hudson Street hit the market, Frankel bought the four-bedroom spread in 2011 for just under $5 million, then spent $500,000 furnishing and renovating it. But when she and ex-husband Jason Hoppy decided to part ways, the apartment became the most contentious part of the divorce, resulting in a very public, four-year legal battle. With the home finally off her hands, the “Real Housewives of New York City” star and outspoken founder of the Skinny Girl empire told the Journal, "I’m glad that the real-estate gods were looking out for me saying, ‘let’s give her a break.’”

Bethenny Frankel puts luxe Tribeca loft on the market for $7M now that divorce is finalized

Bethenny Frankel, "Real Housewives of New York City" star and outspoken founder of the Skinny Girl empire, finalized her divorce from ex-husband Jason Hoppy over the summer after four long years. Perhaps the most contentious part of the legal battle was that he remained in the Tribeca loft that she purchased in 2011 for just under $5 million while she hotel-hopped (she notoriously referred to herself as "the richest homeless person in Manhattan"). But things seem to be turning around for Frankel; she bought and renovated a $4.2 million Soho loft back in April 2015, and she's now finally listed the Tribeca condo for an impressive $6.95 million, reports Variety. The four-bedroom corner spread at 195 Hudson Street is cool and contemporary and boasts luxe details such as a 180-bottle wine fridge, decked-out closet/dressing room, and totally custom office (which made many an appearance on the Bravo reality show).

Rent this fabulously curated Village loft with civilized co-op amenities for $4,000 a month

The look is architect's design meets artsy loft at this one-bedroom co-op in the International Tailoring Company Building at 111 Fourth Avenue in Greenwich Village. Modern finishes provide a backdrop for cool collections and funky details (like a baby blue retro Smeg refrigerator), while the overall result "exudes a refined aura of contemporary city living." The "duplex" has a classic loft setup, meaning it's comprised of a sleeping loft perched above the apartment's main space. Located at the crossroads of Greenwich Village, the East Village and Union Square, it's not a spot for peace and quiet, but it gets top marks for supreme convenience to just about everything downtown Manhattan has to offer, which might make the $4,000 rent worthwhile. And unlike some historic loft buildings, this particular co-op offers an elevator, a doorman, laundry on every floor, and two landscaped roof decks.

Gawker founder Nick Denton can’t pay mortgage on Soho condo, needs renter approved

If you visit Gawker.com today, you'll see a final farewell that simply says "F— It," leading up to Univision's takeover of the media company later this month. But Gawker Media founder Nick Denton isn't so quick to throw in the towel in every aspect of his struggling empire; according to the Post, he's found a renter for who will fork over $12,500 a month for his $4.2 million Soho condo (in the same building where Kelly Ripa sold her penthouse at a $4.5 million discount). After publishing a sex video of him, Gawker was notoriously sued by Hulk Hogan, who won a $140 million settlement against the company, forcing Denton to file bankruptcy since he's personally liable for $10 million. So in May, he put his apartment at 76 Crosby Street on the market for $15,000 a month, the cost of his monthly mortgage payment that he now can't make, along with $3,400 in condo fees. But in order for the deal to go through, Denton needs a bankruptcy judge to approve the lease.
