Rent the Ultra-Opulent Plaza Pad of Kazakhstan President’s Nephew for $55K a Month
Daniyar Nazarbayev, the ultra-rich nephew of Kazakhstan President Nursultan Nazarbayev, is now leasing his equally ultra-luxurious four-bedroom at The Plaza Hotel for $55,000 a month, reports the NYDN. The beautiful 4,200 square foot home is certainly of a presidential caliber and comes dripping with the ornate features and finishes that have become so synonymous with the storied Plaza. With sunny Central Park views from every room and expansive north and west exposures, this home also hosts ceilings highlighted with mosaic stained glass and crystal chandeliers, artistically detailed moldings, a formal dining room, marble entry foyer, and much more—including a helluva lot of international drama to boot.
According to NYDN, young Daniyar Nazarbayev is currently accused of owning millions of dollars in maintenance fees and over $100,000 in common charges and assessments, which has led the Plaza’s co-op board to file a lawsuit against him. Though Daniyar is listed as the owner of the property, the title may be up in the air as his former stepfather, the president’s brother Bolat Nazarbayev, is accusing his his ex-wife Maira Nazarbayeva (Daniyar’s mother), of tricking him into signing legal documents that gave Daniyar ownership. The apartment was purchased by Daniyar’s stepfather and mother in 2008 for $20.2M, and the home has previously been listed for $28 million.
If you can manage to get past all of the family’s legal issues, this grand apartment also comes with all the amenities offered by the Plaza Hotel, including a 24-hour concierge, valet parking, dry cleaning and turn-down. You’ll of course also get to enjoy the Plaza’s prime location in the heart of Midtown just steps away from Central Park, as well as a stunning landscaped courtyard with reflecting pool and fountains. The apartment is available both furnished or unfurnished.
