Bruce Springsteen’s ‘Born to Run’ Beachside Home Is Selling for $299,000

This quaint cottage may not look like the refuge of a rock n' roll great, but this little house is indeed special for one particular reason: Bruce Springsteen wrote "Born to Run" while living here. According to the Daily News, the 828-square-foot abode at 7 1/2 West End Court in Long Branch, NJ, is back on the market for just under $300K. Springsteen, who took up the space at a wee 25 years old, celebrated the 40th anniversary of the famed album's release this year and has said in interviews that he wrote every ballad—from the title track to "Jungleland"—within the home's four walls during his stay from '74 to '75

Make Beautiful Music in Ira Gershwin’s Noted UWS Penthouse, Listed for $6M

If these walls could sing, they'd probably belt out a Gershwin brothers tune. One of the two adjoining penthouses occupied by George and Ira Gershwin has just hit the market for $5.99 million, The Post reports. The two apartments, located at 33 Riverside Drive, were quite the party pad for the two brothers back in the day; a famed locale that welcomed legendary celebs like Ethel Merman (incidentally, the brothers were said to have written "Girl Crazy" within its walls). The pair called the two penthouses home from 1929 until 1933, and now Ira's space is up for grabs.

This $30/Week Grimy Lower East Side Bar Bathroom Is a Hot Ticket

There's not a lot we haven't seen in terms of less-than-ideal but overpriced real estate, from an $1,800 Manhattan rental with a shower in the kitchen to a $1.2 million trailer in the Hamptons. And just last week, a story surfaced about a cupboard-like rental underneath a London stairwell going for $750 a month. To poke fun at the absurd lengths people go to in order to live in the city's best neighborhoods, Alana Reali, a bartender at Lower East Side dive bar Local 138, posted an ad on Craigslist advertising the bar's 15-square-foot graffiti-covered bathroom as a $30/week rental, reports the Post. Calling it a "hip artist loft," the listing says "room includes a window, a door, your very own bathroom and walls dressed with authentic NYC street art. Hot water included. I provide a space heater for the winter months." Shortly after posting, Reali was inundated with requests, like this one from a gullible NYU student: "This place is perfect for me and I am interested, only I did not really understand how the situation works. Can you please elaborate a bit?"

Famed Photographer David LaChapelle Lists His Stunning Chelsea Home for $2.5M

Photographer David LaChapelle, best known for shooting everyone from Madonna to Michael Jackson to Leonardo Dicaprio and Lady Gaga in some seriously weird situations, has just listed his West Chelsea co-op at 427 West 21st Street for $2.469 million. Surprisingly, unlike the artist's audacious pop-surreal works, his apartment is far more subdued, sporting a very classic look with pops of color and patterns selectively emerging throughout the home's historic interiors.

But standing far from the limelight is the building's architect, Robert A.M. Stern, who, like his buildings, opts for the stately, subdued and classic over the winding and twisting standalones of his contemporaries. "We have a lot of silly buildings being built, in my opinion. The buildings should not look like Lady Gaga,” the architect says. In the latest installment of the Louisiana Channel Stern discusses what might be his most famous project, 15 CPW, and why he strives for buildings that complement, not dominate.

But there's more to Tom and Mickey than their stage sheen. To date, the "Dream Team" has brought in over a $1.5 billion dollars in sales at CORE, securing the firm's spot as the #1 brokerage in town, and earning themselves CORE's 2013 Top Producer Award while at it. Charismatic and capable, it comes as no surprise that Tom and Mickey are a prime pick amongst developers and celebs looking for record-breaking results (David Sanborn, Lady Gaga, Jim Carey and Joan Collins are just a few of the names that make up their roster). We recently chatted with the powerhouse pair who gave us the scoop on everything from their first sales, to bringing what they learned on Broadway to the real estate business, to one of their most memorable closings involving a 7-foot fiberglass replica of the Statue of Liberty!
